Newquay Orchard crowdfund launch, Newquay, Fri 1 Jul
We love a crowdfunding project here at Muddy HQ – and here’s one we can all benefit from – a rural escape in the heart of Newquay. Five acres of Cornish fruit, interspersed with peaceful seating areas to watch wildlife. The aim of the project is to create a space where people from all walks of life can come together – bring a picnic, read a book or just relax and enjoy this natural resource. A place in which people can grow, learn, and feel included. promote local organic produce to create food footsteps and not food miles, recycling, upcycling, and salvaging, to create a sustainable legacy for future generations to enjoy. This crowdfunding even aims to raise money for the new wood workshop and den area. From 3pm at the Ocean Surf Lodge on tower road, enjoy a BBQ, wild kids crafts , live music and an auction.

An Absolutely Fabulous Evening, The Art of Wine and The Plaza, Truro Fri 1 July
I’d heard that Ab Fab the movie was awash with star cameos (like 60-odd!) and immediately pictured horrifically self-referencing fashion types who were in it to validate their lives. Well, admittedly there are some of those, but who cares? Because Ab Fab looks very, very ravishingly funny. Blamed for a major incident with a fashion model at an uber fashionable launch party, they become entangled in a media storm and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi. Fleeing penniless to the south of France, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent.
Start the evening at the Art of Wine, with a glass of Champagne upon arrival. Then, those gorgeous gals (and Muddy Award finalists) No 3 Brow & Lash Bar will give you a mini manicure and brow make over. After the merriment and pampering, its off to The Plaza to watch Eddie and Patsy. What an absolutely fabulous evening sweetie.
£25 5pm onwards The Art of Wine, 7 Nalders Court, Truro, TR1 2XH T:01872 270032

Schools Will Rock You, St Joseph’s School, Launceston Thurs 7/8/9 July
Everywhere, the kids watch the same movies, wear the same fashions and think the same thoughts. It’s a safe, happy, Ga Ga world. Unless you’re a rebel. Unless you want to Rock. On iPlanet all the musical instruments are banned. The Company Computers generate tunes and everybody downloads them. It is an age of Boy Bands and of Girl Bands. Of Boy and Girl Bands. Of Girl Bands with a couple of boys in them that look like girls anyway. Nothing is left to chance, hits are scheduled years in advance. But Resistance is growing. Underneath the gleaming cities, down in the lower depths live the Bohemians. Rebels who believe that there was once a Golden Age when the kids formed their own bands and write their own songs. They call that time, The Rhapsody. I was treated to a teaser at St Mellion last Tuesday. Looks fabulous.
£8 7pm (plus Sat matinee at 2pm), St Joseph’s School, St Peter’s hill, Launceston.
