New beauty salon in Bude to make you Blush!

9 Nov 2016

From the outside an industrial estate might not be the first place you’d expect to find a exclusive beauty salon (with its own training academy) is it Muddies? But after successfully gaining a loyal client base operating out of her converted garage, demand for master lash technician Mel’s services required she get her own premises.

Mel has had a varied career – before moving to Cornwall from Hertfordshire a few years ago, she was an IT geek! Now doing what she loves – making us beautilicious!

So back to the industrial estate part – Mel doesn’t need to rely on footfall – her reputation is what brings clients travelling from up to an hour away. Positioning herself outside of town means she can offer space, more services, privacy (high fives for not bumping into the head of the PTA, post celebrity spray tan!), plus parking and her own thoughtfully designed space from scratch – and back in September she did just that.

The central welcome area doubles as a boutique selling both Cornish and international brands – every thing you could need for a night out (and lots of things you might not have even realised you need). Off that a hair styling station, training academy, curtained treatment rooms, with faux fur blankets and luxe furnishings, a tanning room and (soon to be) hair salon.

Shes the latest salon to bring us ‘Cloud Nine’ new generation heated hair appliances (the brain child of GHD inventor Robert Powls) which you wont want to live without (seriously – they head up in seconds like magic – check out the O at Blush).

I popped in a few weeks post launch for a lash treatment pre one of my girlfriends wedding. Now in the past, when I’ve had lash extensions for special occasions Mr MC has commented how much like a walking talking evil doll I look (note to self – fire him!), but there may be a smidgin of truth in that and I was worried I’d look instantly over done – Mel is an uber expert though, and can offer you the look you want. She suggested Russian lashes – these are finer and softer apparently, applied in a fan shape to softly add volume and length. It took about a hour (which is what I was expecting), but I wasn’t expecting to fall off to sleep – it was so relaxing. Mel is used to this though and takes it as a compliment!

green-eyesI was so pleased with the result, I’ve been back twice for ‘maintenance’ and even brought mother along for an eyebrow tidy.

Blush are holding a Christmas drinks and late night shopping evening on 25 November – if you’ve not been to Blush yet, grab your girlfriends – and book your Christmas party beauty treatment.

THE MUDDY VERDICT:

£££: Very reasonable (compared to upcountry prices), and maintenance is super value. Mel is super friendly and extremely welcoming. I’ve got a feeling this is the start of something big!

Good for: luxe pampering in your lunch break, an after noon of indulgence, hen doos, birthday pampering parties and girly get-togethers pre-night out adventures. Brides! Book Mel for your wedding beauty – she’s won awards.

Mel is also an accredited Look good feel better program workshop provider dedicated to improving the self-esteem, confidence and wellbeing of people for those battling cancer.

Not for: those without transport – you’ll need to get there under your own steam. Sunday pampering – tis closed.

9:30am  – 5:30pm Mon – Fri Blush Beauty, Unit 2c , Stratton view business park, EX239NR T:07961146573
