What’s on guide: Thurs 4 – Wed 10 August

4 Aug 2016

Muddy intern Ruth Wills has not only had cat cuddling duties this week, she’s also been enthusiastically updating the Muddy calendar with all the fabulous daily events sent our way. There’s a selection of highlights below (can’t wait for the baby lobster release!!!), but you can click HERE for the full month ahead. Multiple day events are listed below (since they make my fabulous calendar messy), but I think you’ll want to know about them.

5 pop-up outdoor cinemas you won’t want to miss

25 Jul 2016

As well as David Bowie in goblin king mode, my other weird teen crush was Roy Scheider. Well not R- Shy, but Chief Brody – sunglass-wearing-fish-out-of-water-badass-shark-catcher (in 70’s tennis shorts) ooh la la,  where am I going with this? Oh yes – date night. Mr MC and I  took in a popup open air screening of fishy horror fave Jaws at Tinside Lido in Plymouth last night. It was brilliant – the sounds and smells of the sea really adding to the jaw-dropping (sorry) jump scares.

Muddy eats: Philleigh Way wood-fired sessions

15 Jul 2016

Mr MC and I ventured out into the beautiful Roseland Peninsular last night (Thursday). We tried out one of the Philleigh Way Cookery School wood-fired sessions I’ve been banging on about in the Muddy guides over the last few weeks. These events sell out quick, so read on, then book your places pronto – there are many woodfired sessions planned over the summer. We were these for a Pysk (fish) night, but they also do Best (authentic Argentinian Asado) and Krogen (shellfish) so something for all tastes.

5 summer festivals you won’t want to miss

5 Jul 2016

I’m a dedicated Glastonbury lover, but from the comfort of my sofa these days – I’ve had my fair share of wet wipe washes ta all the same. This year, I had an awesome front row of Chris Martin for starters, and let me tell you, the toilet facilities at the Muddy HQ campsite are way better. But whether you’re a *cough* lightweight glamper like me or a hardcore roll-in-mud music-fan, here’s the Muddy Guide to the best festivals due to crank-it-up in Cornwall over the next few months.

What’s on guide Half term week

25 May 2016

Pass me the tramadol! We’ve got the family coming to stay over half term. Thank all that is good and holy then for the Muddy Cornwall half-term survival guide: your one-stop shop for activities, culture, and everything in between. For those who don’t have children (don’t gloat), or whose kids are old enough to amuse themselves, there’s stuff here for you too – at the bottom of the post, but be warned, they are a bit rum soaked!

Cornish Food Box juicing workshop, Truro Thurs 5 May

I heard about these chaps at the Cornwall Home Show at the weekend – they weren’t there, but there were plenty of supporters blowing their trumpet. Anyway, not only do The Cornish Food Box Co ONLY sell food that has been grown, reared, caught or made here in Cornwall, they are holding a jubbly juicing night on Thursday, in collaboration with Kick Start Fatloss Cornwall.

Daisy Pulls it Off!, King Charles Theatre, Falmouth Thurs 21 – Sat 23 Apr

Ooh err misses! The play is a parody of wholesome, adventure stories in an English Girls’ boarding school. Pulling it off (fnar!) is Daisy Meredith, a girl from a poor home who has to over come snobby prejudice and schoolgirl pranks. As in the St Trinians series the girls are played by older actresses and the headmistress is a man.
