Scribble this date in your diary: 15 September – then get up in the loft and start rummaging. BBC One’s Antiques Roadshow is coming to the Duchy. Foxy Fiona and the team will be filming the valuation day at Trelissick House in Feock.
Now, even if this isn’t your cup of tea I’m sure you have a mum, dad, grandparent or friend who is a fan of the show and would love to go.
I’m a bit of a secret scavenger – I crush on retro mid century pieces and I love the idea of upcycling, but I am majorly put off by all that faff. (D.I.Y? *yawn*). There are several ‘found’ pieces cluttering up the garage crying out for a facelift (I heard that! No I’m not talking about me…) but, at the same time, the idea of sanding and priming wood is about as appealing as er watching paint dry – which is why they are still in the garage.
We love a bit of vintage here at Muddy Cornwall HQ – and the quirkier the better (Mr MC currently his eye on an old prison door from Dartmouth jail – but that’s another story). But it’s not easy to find cool lights in the countryside, so you can image my delight at stumbling across Any Old Lights in Fowey.
Living an a crumbly old cottage, we’ve just had a much needed rewire and now the boring safe bit has been done, I’m itching to overhaul the lighting throughout the house, so hellooo Any Old Lights!
