You’re never far from a campsite in Cornwall, which means there are lots of options for laidback breaks by the sea. But how to choose? Ask a local of course! Or even better, ask the discerning, style-savvy locals who hang out on Instagram. Each of these gorgeous indie campsites has been personally recommended (or tried out by me) and chosen for their locations, facilities, views and atmosphere — with plenty of glamping options for camping softies too.Read more

I made the mistake of going on my summer holidays at the beginning of July before most of the schools broke out – I felt very smug at the time, but as I sit here shivering in my indoor hat (yes I have one) and my two pairs of socks, that seems an age ago and I am in dire need of something to look forward to.

Its all about location location location, and here’s a location you’ll be hard pushed to beat. Muddy Cornwall recently had the pleasure of staying at The New Inn, a restaurant with rooms on Tresco. I know what you’re thinking: a spa break in another county? But of course! When you could win an overnight stay in non other than Stoke Park. This little beauty is soo fabulous, I’d sell Mr Muddy Cornwall to be in with a chance. Sadly I can’t (Mr MC breathes a sigh of relief) but you could…

Ah Marhamchurch! I’ve driven past you on the Atlantic highway like a million times without knowing you were even there. And that’s sort of the point of The Lodge at Penleaze – it’s a totally secret bolt hole on the outskirts of this charming village- oops there goes my big mouth. Well it was a secret – but still secluded, with private views for miles (1.5 to be exact, which is how far away it is from the bodacious Bude) and no nosy neighbours.Read more
So, you know the feeling: You’ve got rid of the kids for the night and don’t want to waste the time stuck in the car for 5 hours finding somewhere special to stay. No problemo. Finding ourselves temporarily childless (trying not to gloat here), Mr MC and I headed off down the A30 and within the hour we were sipping G&Ts in one of our county’s greatest towns – Huzzah for Penzance!
We stayed at the Chapel House – one of Penzance’s newest and hot hot hotest B&B’s.Read more
