IN-PERSON: Rogue Theatre’s Winter Wood, Tehidy Woods, Sat 12 – Sat 30 Dec
Multi-award-winning Rogue Theatre returns to the wilds of Tehidy Woods this December with their enchanting winter celebration Winter Wood.
Follow the path deeper into the Winter Wood, land of myth, legend and festive magic as Old Man Winter’s world of stories, faeries and winter wonders comes to life.
Created by Cornwall’s immersive and highly visual Rogue Theatre, Winter Wood is an adventure for families and those who still believe in magic.
IN-PERSON: A Musical Minack Christmas, Minack Theatre (Sat 12 & Sun 13 Dec)
Five well-known faces of Cornwall’s musical theatre scene are packing their talents into a glittering box of festive goodies, for an afternoon of great songs from musicals old and new, including favourites from Les Miserables, Dream Girls, Jekyll and Hyde, Oklahoma and Shrek. And for a shimmer of seasonal sparkle, they’ll also be singing some of the best-loved Christmas songs.

This is Dickens’ original words with added silliness. Silliness? Bah!
Celebrate the festive season with a mesmerising one-man performance of Charles Dickens’ timeless, transformative story: A Christmas Carol. Bah!

Based on a well-known Cornish legend this uniquely heart-warming story of the friendship between a fearless fisherman and his devoted cat will warm your cockles… This show lasts for approximately one hour. Last year it sold out, so book early!
This Christmas experience the festive magic of The Mousehole Cat at drive-in screenings across Cornwall! Live music, “car-participation” and your very own Mowzer Mini Lantern will put you at the heart of this adventure and warm your spirits like a ‘efty piece of star gazy pie!
ONLINE: Miracle Theatre, 7 & 21 December
Last year they brought us Treasure Island, this year, tune into the Miracle Theatre’s YouTube channel to watch festive performances of Cinderella and Bah! Humbug, A Christmas Carol.
IN-PERSON: Robinson Crusoe, Theatre Royal, Plymouth, Sat 12 Dec – Sun 3 Jan
Isn’t 2020 the perfect time to be marooned on a desert island? This new production has been created especially for this Christmas and it promises the traditional fun and laughter we expect from the Theatre Royal, this year featuring Les Dennis and Simon Webbe. All-in-one act and socially distanced.
IN-PERSON: The Gingerbread Man, Theatre Royal, Plymouth, Tues 8 Dec – 9 Jan
‘Stuff and Nonsense’ use a mix of puppetry, live-action, music and stunning staging for this exciting retelling of a well loved tale for anyone aged 3 and up but apparently you should run run as fast as you can if you want to get tickets for this gingerbread man!
ONLINE THEATRE: Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas, Tobacco Factory Theatres, Weds 9 – Thurs 24 Dec
A grumpy but loveable Father Christmas gets ready for his busiest day of the year. The show, with fab puppets and terrific tunes, has been a regular at the Hammersmith Lyric for years but this production has been specifically designed to be watched in your own home (and as many times as you like for the duration of the run). Age 8 and under.
ONLINE BALLET: Within the Golden Hour, The Royal Ballet, Live until Sun 13 Dec
Missing your annual Nutcracker? How about this online programme of ballet excerpts and set pieces, concluding with Christopher Wheeldon’s one-act ballet of shimmering beauty.
