Re-awaken after lockdown at Porthilly Spirit

This new Cornish gathering has confirmed its dates for this summer. It's bijou, intimate, with music and terrific food and drink - where do we sign?

Got a hankering to congregate in a field in little more than a pair of hot pants and black wellies, a la Kate Moss circa 2005? Yes, us too, and thankfully, as lockdown restrictions start to ease, it looks like this year, we might just manage it.

Our friends at Porthilly Spirit have created a magical three-day event this coming May over the final bank holiday weekend (28-30 May 2021) – a bit like getting involved at your favourite dinner party (remember those?) all day, all weekend.

Nestled on a farm just outside Rock on the north Cornish coast, Porthilly Spirit is set across 30 acres: small in scale but a real chance to feast, to learn and listen, to reconnect and experience. With a capacity of just 1500 you can be sure the gathering will be intimate, laid back and easy going.

Picture this – the sun is shining. You’re sat around the table, sharing delicious food with your friends and family – choose from dishes from Tim Siadatan (Trullo), Luca Dusi, The Rocket Store in Boscastle and follow it with coffee from Yallah. Simon Stallard, of the world-renowned Hidden Hut is hosting The Pig Pen Restaurant featuring guest chefs including Genevieve Taylor.

Want to wake up to sunrise yoga – they have that covered. Fancy a foraging workshop along the North Cornish coast – that’s in there. You can also take in talks and workshops from Lorraine Candy, Rob Da Bank, Tom Kay, Sophie Hellyer and many more.

Whilst music is more low-key, this year at least, there will be an eclectic vibe across the weekend from Fishermans Friends, Bodywork (DJ), Hot Buttered Soul (DJ), Easy Stride Band, Heavy Beat Brass Band, Flats and Sharps, Ferris and Sylvester, Sam Johnson, Zola Courtney, OK Now (DJ Set), to list but a few.

The kids haven’t been forgotten either, as Muddy child-entertaining wizards the Wild Warriors are on hand, plus the magical Rogue Theatre (above), as well as Wavehunters, plus the beach is only a short distance away.

Tickets are selling fast – choose from weekend or day passes, plus luxury camping
