Marzipan Hair, Truro
Muddy says: A boutique, indie hair salon, not far from the station in Truro. Marzipan ticks our boxes with its modern vibe, talented team and friendly atmosphere.
Nobody knows the power of a makeover like a hairdresser and this cool salon, on Frances Street in Truro, had a complete rebrand and refurbishment last year. Looking great and growing fast, Marzipan now has a team of 12 skilled colourists, stylists and snippers and has earned a rep for its friendly, family vibe.
Reassuringly stylish and urban, we love the mid-century mirrors and graphic patterned walls – which are just crying out for a new-hair-do selfie.
The salon first came to my attention when it made the 2018 finals of the Muddy Awards for Cornwall’s Best Hairdresser. But it turns out my perfectly coiffed colleague Becky has been a Marzipan devotee for some time too! Check out their work and get some serious hair inspo on the salon’s Instagram gallery.
Marzipan is open six days a week and offers late appointments on Thursdays and Fridays and an easy online booking system.
The salon uses Redken colour and haircare products, Morrocan Oil and Pureology – a sulphate free, 100% vegan range. The team benefits from regular training with Redken, on the latest colour techniques and trends as well as attending lots of other courses nationwide. An Outstanding Apprenticeship Employer, Marzipan staffers won Cornwall Apprentice of the Year in Hair & Beauty 2016 and 2017 and this year, they are sponsoring the awards.
Owner Hannah also works for world-renowned hairdresser Lee Stafford, whose colleagues (‘STAFS’) throughout the UK are revolutionising college hair education, sharing the Lee Stafford Education way with college lecturers.
