Mount Haven Hotel
Muddy says: Book an escape at this chic Marazion hotel for it’s stylish and comfortable rooms, exciting fine dining restaurant and exceptional views across Mounts Bay.
This elegant boutique hotel occupies a quiet corner of Marazion, on Cornwall’s south coast. The town remains buzzing throughout the year, with visitors to the famous St Michael’s Mount and nearby town of Penzance. Mount Haven is on the edge of town, offering a peaceful retreat and sweeping views of Mounts Bay.
There are 19 individually furnished rooms, many of which have recently had luxe makeovers during an ongoing period of renovations. Most have sea views, balconies or courtyards and are refreshingly un-nautical for a seaside stay, decorated with chic neutral tones and an eclectic mix of prints.
Breakfast is included but you’ll also want to book lunch or dinner in the brilliant restaurant here (spread over two floors, with a balcony overlooking the bay). The kitchen is headed up by chef Ross Sloan who describes the food as ‘modern British, inspired by nature’ and the menu features adventurous dishes that make the most of Cornwall’s fabulous local produce.
Landscape designer Michael Harvey, who’s developed the St Michael’s Mount garden over the last few years, designed the Mount Haven garden. The succulents and plants that have been planted here are inspired by the work that he has done on the Mount, creating stunning gardens that are unique to this part of Cornwall and the perfect place to relax with an early evening drink.
