Sandy Duck B&B
Muddy says: Combining Scandinavian style with original features, the Sandy Duck B&B is a chic choice for a stay in Falmouth.
This elegant Falmouth townhouse has quite a history – originally built as a boarding house for officers working out of the nearby port, it has also been a small hotel and a nursery school. The current owner took it over in 2016 and breathed new life into the building to create a simple, stylish B&B, with an emphasis on relaxation and calm.
Located on one of the roads running from Falmouth town to the beach, The Sandy Duck boasts fabulous views over Falmouth Bay, towards Pendennis Castle and St Anthony’s Lighthouse. Its seven bedrooms embrace elements of Scandinavian style without losing the charm of the original Victorian features. Egyptian cotton linen, Hypnos beds and naturally produced Meraki products add to the charm.
The breakfast menu makes the most of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, including homemade preserves and muesli, and sourdough loaves collected fresh every morning from the nearby Bakery on The Beach. With light pouring in through sea-facing windows, original floorboards and locally crafted tables, the breakfast room is a cosy, informal place to linger over coffee. And after a day on the beach or exploring the town, the lounge opposite offers comfy sofas to curl up on, and a roaring fire in the winter. Prices start from £80 a night.
