Muddy says: If family camping is on the agenda, Trevornick at Holywell Bay rivals the best European sites for top notch facilities and offers easy access to some of Cornwall’s most popular beaches.
Whether you’re a seasoned camper or like a little pre-pitched luxury, this Cornish beachside favourite has it all. Grab a quiet spot to set up camp, reserve a fully kitted out Eurotent or book into one of the swanky new statics or holiday cottages on site. Either way you are perfectly positioned for an outdoorsy family holiday to remember.
Trevornick is nestled in the sand dunes, behind family-friendly Holywell Bay Beach (you may recognise it from brooding beach scenes in Poldark). The short walk from the campsite to the beach is just gorgeous and if you fancy a longer jaunt, you can reach Perranporth, Crantock or Porth Joke, along the scenic coast path, in a few enjoyable miles. Travelling with your pooch? Dogs are welcome both at Trevornick and Holywell Bay beach all year-round.
I’ve rarely come across a site with such good facilities here in the UK – it reminds me of some of the brilliant campsites we’ve stayed at along the west coast of France.
As well as several options for accommodation, there is a large pool, jacuzzi and treatment room, fun park (far enough away from the pitches, don’t worry), fishing lakes, a golf course, kids club, laidback family eatery, shop, bar and woodland to explore. And if all this sounds like a bit much, you can easily avoid the central hub of the site and spend your time between the dunes, coast path, beach and your tent, with the knowledge that anything you might need is nearby.
When you fancy a day out, Newquay, with its popular surf beaches, cool cafes, great restaurants and family attractions, is just a few minutes drive away.
