It's cold, drizzly and dark at 5pm so it's time to up the comfort factor with these must-have items to keep you cosy, as well as the added feel good factor of being able to #supportlocal.
Rooted in Cornish fisherman knitting tradition, lightweight but super cosy in a chunky style, this 100% merino lambswool jumper from Celtic & Co is a hug to yourself – and is smart enough for a Zoom call (we won’t tell anyone you’ve teamed it with joggers not trousers!)
Snug as a bug
From Atlantic Blankets. this navy herringbone blanket / throw hits all the right style notes and is perfect for adding a splash of subtle colour to your sofa. Layer up with fluffy cushions for added texture.
Fluffy slippers are an A/W staple and this year we’re coveting these sheepskin sliders from Celtic & Co. Made from 100% British sheepskin, they’re super-soft and stylish and come in two colours, but be quick, they’re selling out fast.
Coffee, tea, hot chocolate (with lashings of marshmallows and cream, of course) – whatever your drink of choice, look damn stylish sipping it with this glazed stoneware mug, made by Cornish potters Leach Pottery for Seasalt (check out the work by Annabelle, the Seasalt apprentice at Leach too, while you’re at it).
Treat your toes to a pair of these Morvah welly socks – which are the warmest, softest, longest lasting alpaca socks you could own. A gentle elastication around the arch of the foot ensures that they won’t slip down. So grab your boots and get out there – these socks are made for walking!
Bring some glam to the school run, dog walk or even the slopes when we’re finally allowed to travel by keeping your ears warm with the gorgeous 100% British sheepskin headband from Celtic & Co.
Light It Up
Cold, dark evenings call for candles – and lots of them. We love the herbal healing of this Winter Thyme candle from St Eval. Beautifully fresh and uplifting and great for stress relief, the rosemary and thyme give earthy winter wood notes.
Is there anything more cosy than a deliciously fluffy rug? We think not. This one from Newquay-based Celtic & Co is made from British Herdwicke sheepskin and is ideal for throwing over armchairs to up the comfort factor.
Splash of colour
Bring a luxe touch to your sofa with one of these velvet cushions made in Falmouth by Cream Cornwall – mix and match, or go all out. We love the combination of the turmeric with a navy throw.
You can’t get much comfier than this cardigan/robe hybrid from The White Company – it’s basically a blanket with arms. Stylish and minimal design with dropped shoulders and deep pockets, it features a dash of luxurious alpaca wool for added warmth.
Dark evenings call for lots of lights, and we hanker after a Tom Raffield original. Handmade using steam bent wood in his workshop deep in the Cornish countryside, we think this Noctis Wheal table lamp with exposed bulb is both practical and beautiful.
