Origin Coffee Roasters
Sustainable, environmentally friendly, with all beans roasted in Cornwall, not one but six cafés across Cornwall and London, plus beans and equipment by post, here's why we love Helston's Origin Coffee.
Tom Sobey founded Origin Coffee in Cornwall in 2004. In the fifteen years since Origin has grown into one of the UK’s leading speciality coffee roasters, winning the Allegra Coffee Awards 2019 and awarded the Top 3 Speciality Coffee Roaster in Europe.
Independently owned and now B Corp certified, Origin is bound by one central ethos; to source exceptional coffee through a sustainable, triple bottom line approach.
Origin curates seriously special coffees from around the world, the majority sourced through direct trade. From their state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly roasting facility near Cornwall’s south coast, sensory skill and technical expertise is blended in order to respect the individual characteristics of the coffee, led by UK Cup Taster Champion and Q-grader, Freda Yuan (above).
You’ll find Origin the supplier of choice with many leading lights of the UK hospitality scene, from The Hoxton hotel group and the Scarlet through to award-winning indie coffee shops such as Rosslyn Coffee. They also have six of their own coffee shops in London and Cornwall, including two sites at The British Library.
Origin is shaped by the desire to empower and enthuse people at every stage of the coffee journey. As well as selling a variety of beans and coffee equipment, we love Origin’s subscriptions by post – at a frequency of your choice you can either receive the same beans, go on an olfactory journey that demonstrates the very best in speciality coffee, or even jump on board the cold brew trend with a 3L bag in box for your fridge.
