Polurrian on the Lizard
This dog-friendly hotel on the southernmost tip of Cornwall has stunning views, loads of outside space and a gorgeous new interior.
Polurrian on the Lizard (previously Polurrian Bay Hotel) sits in a glorious position on the Lizard peninsula, in the south west of Cornwall, with 41 bedrooms, ocean views and its own lovely beach accessed by a stairway directly from the hotel.
In Spring 2019 the hotel was given a substantial zsush up with a natty new bar area, revamped spa and a restaurant that now boasts one of those funky Gozney wood-fired ovens; the whole vibe is relaxed, so great for couples and friends, with plenty of outside space. And if you’re a local, the hotel welcomes day guests, so you can still make full use of the facilities.
Polurrian on the Lizard is also super welcoming for 4-legged guests, with dogs welcome in both the hotel itself as well as in the six villas. With underfloor heating, designer furniture and coastal views these stunning luxury self-catering villas offer a great half-way option – your own private space and all the benefit of the hotel amenities, including outdoor tennis courts, Elemis spa treatments, and indoor and outdoor pools.
Stay at Polurrian and you’re spoilt for choice, with so much to explore right on the doorstep. Lizard Point, the most southerly tip of the UK, is just a couple of miles down the road with Kynance Cove’s white sand and turquoise waters (did you know it is one of Cornwall’s most Instagrammable beaches) just 15 minutes drive away.
Other nearby beaches include the Poldark-famous Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach, Poldhu (great beach cafe) and Coverack, with plenty of walks on the coast-path straight from the hotel. Slightly further afield, don’t miss Porthleven, the historic fishing port with picturesque harbour lined with restaurants and shops, and find the magical St Michael’s Mount just off the coast, all within a 30 minute drive.
