Perched on the cliffs at Porthallow between Looe and Polperro in south east Cornwall, the Talland Bay Hotel is just yards from the South West Coast Path and the gorgeous (and quiet) Talland Bay beach – it was a smugglers cove in years gone by.

Inside, there are 20 luxuriously-appointed rooms, including four garden cottages plus the owner’s bungalow, which has now been made available as a self-catering unit. For the ultimate indulgence plump for the recently added Premier Suite, Room 20, which comes complete with a hot tub with sea view.

Each room has been thoughtfully and individually styled, with an eclectic mix of hand-picked furnishings and art. Bathrooms are stocked with White Company toiletries and every bedroom has a flat-screen TV.

Gin-lovers will be delighted by the hotel bar, which offers more than 100 varieties, alongside a selection of whiskies, Cornish craft beers and jazzy cocktails. Perfect for a sundowner on the terrace, or in front of the fire, before heading to the restaurant to enjoy the award-winning fare.

Under head chef Glen Merriott the kitchen team serve up top-notch seasonal dishes using the finest local ingredients, unfussy comfort food that’s packed full of flavour.

The Talland Bay Hotel is dog-friendly, with pets welcome in every bedroom as well as the conservatory brasserie where dogs can join their owners at dinner.
