A traditional folk character, Tom Thumb was a key fixture of the nursery library. No bigger than his father’s thumb, he ran into all sorts of adventures, and he’d no doubt have been right at home among the vintage glassware and speakeasy style decor at his namesake bar in the North Cornwall’s favourite party town.

Forget everything you might think you know about a night out in Newquay though. With its sophisticated styling and classy bar serving delicious cocktails, a lot of which are made with their own range of bitters and ingredients, Tom Thumb wouldn’t be out of place in any bigger city, but with the added brilliance that you are indeed in Cornwall and yes, you can surf off your hangover the next day.

When lockdowns one and two forced the doors to close temporarily, owner Jamie set about developing some of his signature cocktails into at-home drinking sets, initially hand delivering around the Newquay area but now available on-line too at Tom Thumb’s Cocktail Cabinet. The bar has been refurbished in lockdown three and is set to re-open its doors in May.
