This Cornish brand celebrates a quarter of a century selling greetings cards, gifts, and prints all featuring hand drawn illustrations from galleries across Cornwall as well as online.
Celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2021, Whistlefish is a much-loved Cornish art company with galleries across Cornwall and Devon, including the original hexagonal building in St Ives, as well as Padstow, Fowey, Newquay and Looe, to name but a few.
Known for their gorgeous range of greetings and Christmas cards, many with a Cornish scene, Whistlefish also creates and sells gifts and other home products such as cushions, tote bags, tea towels and stationery – all made in the UK.
Whistlefish began with director and owner Lyn Thomson creating and selling greetings cards in her spare time. 25 years on she employs more than 100, works with over 60 independent artists to create original works both for the wall and for cards, and ships nationally from their online shop.
More recently, concerned with sustainability, they created ‘Naked Cards’ – vegetable based inks, FSC approved, and made from recycled paper – as a result they are completely recyclable, sparkly foiling and all. By printing in Cornwall, they are also environmentally friendly.
Whistlefish has a lovely mix of traditional styles and modern ideas. Many pieces of artwork feature calligraphy writing so new this year are Calligraphy sets for aficionados to have a go at home.
