Feed the 300, Tolcarne Inn, Newlyn, Weds 22 & Thurs 23 Nov
Chef Ben Tunnicliffe’s pub, The Tolcarne Inn in Newlyn, will host a ‘Feed The 300’ celebration this November to mark the 300th birthday of the historic maritime inn. During the month, 300 guests will dine on a three-course menu featuring Ben’s favourite dishes from a career in cooking, with Cornish seafood playing the starring role. Tables are available every Wednesday and Thursday evening throughout November. £28 per person, including recipes for recreating the dishes at home and a £10 voucher for next time.
Sam Green, Woodburner Session, Lusty Glaze, Newquay, Fri 24 Nov
Every Friday night through autumn and winter, Newquay beach venue Lusty Glaze will be hosting its chilled out Woodburner Sessions. This week, catch Devon surf roots artist Sam Green. The 2016 release of Sam Green and the midnight heist’s “Factory Studios Sessions EP” was met with huge enthusiasm, as Sam and his band lit up the summer festival circuit, starting with a headline slot at The Isle of Wight Festival in June and finishing by closing the BBC Introducing stage at Looe Music Festival. A must see for fans of Xavier Rudd, Iron and Wine and The John Butler Trio.

A feast of all things duck from the wonderful producers and suppliers to Knightor and many of the best restaurants in Cornwall and Devon, The Cornish Duck Co. Signs and Wonders Light Spectacular, Redruth, Fri 24 Nov
Dubbed ‘a magical adventure through illuminated landscapes’ – this is the first of four light shows around Cornwall. The “Spirit of Light,” will dance to the rhythm of the drum, leading you on a magical adventure into illuminated landscapes. Wrap up warm, put on your walking boots and come and experience 4 stunning and iconic locations. See their stories brought to life with projections, animations, light installations, lanterns, procession, music and of course hot food and drinks to warm you on your journey.

Festival of Christmas & Artisan Market, Penventon Park Hotel, Fri 24 – Sun 26 Nov
This family Xmas Festival opens with Carols by Candlelight on Friday night. On Saturday and Sunday the festivities will include an artisan gift market, Christmas wreath making workshops, festive street food stalls, a Winter Gin tasting bar, Christmas cake decorating, children’s theatre performances and a children’s treasure hunt in the hotel grounds. Entrance is free but theatre performances, carols by candlelight and workshops are at an extra charge and need to be booked.
Fowey Christmas Market, Fowey Leisure Centre & Quay, Sat 25 Nov
Now in it’s 13th year, the Fowey Christmas Market has become one of the largest Christmas Markets in Cornwall, with top-quality traders selling a huge range of food, drink and craft products. The market is split between two sites – the largest is at the Fowey Leisure Centre at the top of town, the other is located in marquees on the Town Quay, with transport available to go from one to the other. Entry to both markets is free, with free parking available at the Leisure Centre. Choirs, bands and solo entertainers will all add to the Christmassy atmosphere.
Festival of Light & Sound, Eden Project, Bodelva, Sat 25 – Sun 26 Nov (and more dates in Dec)
Described by one visitor as being like ‘man-made Northern Lights’ this unforgettable display of light, music and colour returns to the Eden Project this winter. Step out onto the viewing platform and gaze in awe as dramatic lasers pierce through the darkness to create a canopy of light, illuminating Eden’s lush landscape. You can also take part in craft workshops before the festivities kick off each evening. All activities are included with an Eden Project ticket or Pass, and there is no need to book.
Universarama by Squashbox Theatre, Heartlands, Pool, Sat 25 Nov (shows at 12pm and 4pm)
Let Professor Johnson of the Squashbox Theatre Astounding And Amazing Astronomical Research Society (S.T.A.A.A.A.R.S) take you on a journey to the edges of space and time! Universarama! is a marvellous blend of spectacle, storytelling and cabaret, all contained within an accessible, funny and unique family show. £3 in advance £4 on the door. Recommended for ages 8+.
Christmas Fair, plus meet Santa and His Real Reindeer, Gwel an Mor, Portreath, Sat 25 – Sun 26 Nov
Head to Gwel an Mor for a glittering Christmas Fair and get yourself in the festive spirit. This Christmas Fair is free to attend and you’ll be able to pick up some special gifts from local producers. There’ll be food and drink on sale and plenty of entertainment and fun. Santa and his real reindeer will be flying in for little ones to meet so make sure you book your slots before he sells out. If you can’t make this weekend, Santa will also be at Gwel an Mor every Wednesday and Sunday in December (plus the 23rd and 24th). And it’s one of the loveliest Santa experiences in Cornwall in my humble opinion!

Free Yoga Day, Falmouth Yoga Space, Sat 25 Nov
Once a year Falmouth Yoga Space offers a free yoga day, so you can get a chance to come along and experience the studio and classes and their blossoming yoga teachers get to teach in the space. All classes are 45 minutes. Classes begin at 11am with the final session at 4pm. Spaces for each are limited to 12, so be sure to book.

Tickets for the Christmas Craft Fair are £1.50 and can be bought online. Worth knowing that the hotel car park can get very busy during the fairs, so Newquay Lions Club are providing a free shuttle service from Mawgan Porth beach car park up to the hotel.

Head to Zennor on Sunday night for a spine-tingling, toe-curling yet heart-warming evening with a master of Westcountry storytelling. Spindle Wayfarer is back to wow us with some more stories. Expect to be unsettled, tickled and teased by a fabulously far-fetched hoard of stories and songs emerging from the shadows of the past. He will be joined by fabulous musical duo Fran and Flora, who will share their heart-felt laments, exquisite songs, toe-tappable dance tunes and tales from their musical adventures.
