There’s nothing but sunshine on the forecast right through till Sunday and I for one am going to make the most of it. Here are a few things to get out and about for this week in Cornwall.

Mevagissey Feast Week, Mevagissey, Sun 24 – Sat 30 Jun

Mevagissey has been celebrating the Feast of St Peter (patron Saint of Fishermen) for generations. Highlights include Sunday’s Fish Festival where fish dishes, ales and live music will be served up in the harbour and the colourful annual parade.

Just Four + One Exhibition, Rock Institute, Rock, Sun 24 Jun – Sun 1 Jul 

An exhibition of recent work by Just Four + One contemporary artists, Sophie Bartlett, Jo Ellis, Jenny Hill-Norton and Anthea Stilwell, at the Rock Institute, Rock, Cornwall. Open daily from 10am-5pm, hosted by Valency Fine Art.

The Trench Bodmin, Cornwall’s Regimental Museum, Bodmin, Mon 25 – Sat 30 Jun

This immersive theatre experience puts you in the shoes of a real Cornishman as he enlists and heads off for the trenches. The Trench Bodmin tells the true and personal stories of local men who fought in the First World War. Follow in their footsteps, enlist at Bodmin Keep and take on a real soldier’s identity. Board a steam train at Bodmin & Wenford Railway and head off to a replica WW1 trench to experience the chaos of battle. Then return and discover your fate, before entering the Trench Exhibition. £15pp / optional ration pack – £10. See my review

Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility at Minack Theatre, Porthcurno, Mon 25 – Fri 29 Jun

This Jane Austen drama play is adapted by Jessica Swale into a fast-paced, funny and clever version of the original. Follow Elinor and Marianne Dashwood on their journey through love, dreams and heartbreak – from Devonshire to London and back again. Tickets are £14/£10 for adults and £7/£5 for anyone below 16.

Taco Tuesday – 6pm till late, Canteen Cornwall, St Agnes, Tues 26 Jun

As usual, this Tuesday is Taco Tuesday at Canteen Cornwall but this week, they’re open until late. From 6pm until they are gone, the Canteen team will be serving up TACOS straight off the grills – 100 portions, when they are gone, they are gone. Turn up from 6pm on Tuesday evening with your own drinks. £5 pp

The Cherry Orchard (Miracle Theatre), Gyllyngdune Gardens, Falmouth,  Wed 27 & Thurs 28 Jun; Treviglas School, Newquay, Fri 29 Jun

This summer, Cornwall’s award-winning Miracle Theatre unpacks Chekhov’s bittersweet comedy about a once-wealthy family, whose idleness and extravagance have brought them to the brink of bankruptcy. More than a century after it was written, The Cherry Orchard is still frequently revived all over the world. Alive with brilliantly observed characters, struggling to adapt to an uncertain and rapidly changing world, the story resonates with today’s concerns about disappearing ways of life. Adults £14. Children £8

Jools Holland & his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, The Wateringhole, Perranporth, Thurs 28 Jun

TV presenter and celebrated pianist Jools Holland brings his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra to Cornwall. Featuring former Squeeze drummer Gilson Lavis as well as guest vocalists Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall and Rosie Mae, the real draw for Cornish music fans will be special guest Marc Almond. Best known for fronting synthpop duo Soft Cell – who play their last ever concert at London’s O2 later this year – Marc has also had a diverse career as a solo artist, including a No 1 with Something’s Gotten Hold Of My Heart as well as the acclaimed, cult band Marc and the Mambas. £38.50 pp

Sushi Feast with Naoko’s Kitchen, Porthtowan Beach Cafe, Thurs 28 Jun

Feast on fresh sushi by the sea with Naoko’s Kitchen and Porthtowan Beach Cafe. The menu will include sake and nibbles and a big sushi platter, including salmon, tuna and Cornish crab and mackerel. Veggie options available. £27.50 pp.

Sunset Tap Takeover with Harbour Brewing Company, Tate St Ives, Thurs 28 Jun

Following the success of the sell-out Tate Modern Tap Takeover events, this summer Tate will be extending the series to Tate St Ives to celebrate local Cornish craft beer. Kicking off this Thurs 28 Jun with an evening of beer, BBQ and beats. The first Tate St Ives sunset Tap Takeover in collaboration with Harbour Brewing Co. will be hosted on the Café Terrace with views over Porthmeor Beach. Tate Tap takeovers provide a fun and informal space for beer makers and beer lovers alike to come together and enjoy the best of the UK’s brews with tastings, talks and activities. £15 for a flight of 3 beers or £20 for a flight of 3 beers + pint of your choice.

Polgoon BBQ, Polgoon Vineyard & Orchard, Penzance, Fri 29 Jun

If you’ve never been to Polgoon Vineyard near Penzance, this laidback event the perfect excuse for a visit. There will be a fully stocked bar and scrummy local food from the Vinehouse Kitchen. Tickets £6.50 (prepaid) or £8.50 on the night – this entitles you to one main from the BBQ – a choice of scallop and chorizo skewers, local sausages and burgers, local seasonal fish and portobello mushroom burgers. Plus help yourself to three homemade salads; coleslaw, leaf salad and a beetroot, cucumber and mint salad.

Forage, Cook and Feast Day, Fat Hen, Penzance, Fri 29 Jun

Fat Hen’s Forage, Cook & Feast day involves a 2-hour foraging trip to some of West Cornwall’s wild landscapes: to hunt for seasonal wild edible herbs, vegetables, seaweeds, fungi, roots, seeds & berries. Caroline will teach you how to forage safely and legally, covering plant identification tips (including poisonous plants) and offer plenty of recipe ideas. After foraging you will take your produce back to Fat Hen where you’ll learn how to incorporate these ingredients into a 3 course lunch.

Little Women The Musical, Sterts Theatre, Liskeard, Fri 29 Jun

Truro Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society presents Little Women, a timeless and captivating story, based on Louisa May Alcott’s critically acclaimed book. This glorious musical, brought to life with a beautiful score by Jason Howland (composer Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), follows the adventures of the four March sisters.The Civil War is in full swing, and the March sisters – romantic Meg, the oldest, the spirited and tomboyish Jo, sweet and loving Beth, and irascible, playful Amy – live in Concord, Massachusetts with their Marmee while their father is on the battlefield.

Ale & Anchor Festival, The Old Coastguard, Mousehole, Fri 29 Jun – Sun 1 Jul

A celebration of summer, Ale & Anchor is a wonderful weekend for all ages, combining music, beer and family fun, with 20 Cornish ales and food from The Old Coastguard BBQ. Alongside non-stop music there will be traditional garden games, face painting, storytelling and flower crown and mask making each day.

Summer Sounds in the Orchard Trengwainton, Penzance, Sat 30 Jun

Come relax and hang out in the walled garden and listen to some of Cornwall’s finest local bands. Bring a rug to sit on and enjoy the lovely food and drink available to purchase in the bar, there are also vegetarian options! Dance the evening away or sit around the fire as the bands will play until dusk. Tickets go for £10 online or £12 on the door for adults, and £5 online or £6 on the door for children.

Suzie Mac, Penlee Park Open Air Theatre, Penzance,  Sat 30 Jun

Penlee Park Open Air Theatre is delighted to welcome Suzie Mac and the band back to the park on Sat 30 Jun. Expect powerhouse vocals with a sweet soul edge. Suzie Mac’s voice is both unique and spell-binding. This is a rare chance to see her perform in Cornwall.

Punk Thai Pop-Up, Genki, St Agnes, Sat 30 Jun

Join Punk Thai as they collaborate with Genki in St Agnes to welcome you to a 5-course buffet style dinner with a special Punk “twist”, hosted by Putlock Cornwall. Highlights from the menu include Punk Thai Mini Spring Rolls, Tom Yum Pha, Pad Thai, Green Curry and Sweet Thai Mango & Sticky Rice. £29 pp.

Crantock Biathlon, Crantock Beach, Sat 30 Jun

Has this hot weather filled you with energy? Why how about a biathlon in the sunshine this weekend? The Crantock Biathlon includes a 1500m swim, followed by a stunning 5km run! For those that aren’t keen on running there’s a straight 2km swim (suited or skins) and two junior events from 8 yrs and up.

Marie-Claire Hamon: We Want to Keep Dreaming, Tremenheere Gallery at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, Sat 30 Jun – 22 Jul

This summer Tremenheere Gallery presents an exhibition of new paintings by Marie-Claire Hamon. Inspired by a thoughtful and hopeful new mode of ecological thinking, the exhibition showcases a collection of exuberant, tangled forest landscapes. Responding to the naturalistic setting of Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, Marie Claire’s paintings point to a landscape unspoilt by the human claim on natural resources, instead depicting a dreamscape of a future where humans live in radical harmony, enmeshed in the ecology of the natural world.

Gin Afternoon Tea with Summer Sounds in the Garden, Penventon Park Hotel, Redruth, Sun 1 Jul

A marriage made in heaven – gin and afternoon tea, accompanied by summer sounds, all within the beautiful grounds of Penventon Park Hotel (or the ball room if it rains).
