What’s On This Weekend: – Fri 30 Mar – Mon 2 April


Before I descend into my annual chocolate coma – may I wish you and yours a cracking Easter long weekend from all of us at Muddy Cornwall. Lots of ideas for things to keep you busy below.

Easter at Eden, Eden Project, Bodelva, Sat 24 Mar – Sun 15 April

Enjoy an all-new three week programme of fun for the whole family at Eden this Easter. There’s dozens of activities for you and the kids to have a crack at – go eggsploring on an egg hunt, take on a giant inflatable challenge and find your way through the spring maze.


National Trust Cadburys Easter Trails, venues across Cornwall, Sat 24 Mar – Sun 15 April

Once again this Easter, The National Trust has teamed up with Cadburys, hosting 250 nature trails around the UK all ending in a chocolate prize. From Lanhydrock and Trelissick to Glendurgan and Godolphin, join in the fun at the Cornish National Trust estates.


Evita, Hall For Cornwall, Truro, Tues 27 – Sat 31 Mar

Following its smash hit run in London, Bill Kenwright’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita returns. Telling the story of Eva Peron, wife of former dictator Juan Peron, Evita follows Eva’s journey from humble beginnings through to extraordinary iconic status.


North Coast Collective, Rock Institute, Wadebridge, Weds 28 Mar – Sun 8 Apr

This is the first of two exhibitions for 2018, from the North Coast Collective group, of Cornwall-based artists, makers and musicians. Up-cycled curiosities, reworked electric lighting and 3D printed jewellery will be shown alongside vibrant abstract paintings and contemporary seascapes. Art workshops and musical performances will be running during the exhibition too – find details on the group’s Facebook page.


Made In Cornwall Easter Fair, Lemon Quay, Truro, Thurs 29 – Sat 31 Mar

Come along to Lemon Quay in the heart of Truro for a showcase of over 30 Cornish businesses and makers. Browse stalls selling everything from brownies and cider to jewellery and gin.


Jessica Cooper exhibition, Tremenheere Gardens, Penzance, Thurs 29 Mar – Sun 1 Apr

This spring, Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens present an exhibition of drawing, painting and textiles by Jessica Cooper. Central to this exhibition are a limited edition of wool rugs, handmade to Jessica’s designs using dyes from South American plants, by a specialist weaver Neil befriended on a botanical research trip to rural Mexico. As well as a series of new paintings and framed drawings, alongside the sketches which inspired this collaborative collection of handmade rugs.


Murray Lachlan Young, Acorn, Penzance, Fri 30 Mar


This is one for the children. Murray invites you all to listen to his cautionary tales, combining poetry, stand-up, storytelling and panto – sure to keep the kids entertained and get them dancing on stage.  Murray also has a show for adults later in the evening, ‘How Freakin’ Zeitgeist Are You?’. A romp  into the bizarre facets of fame, fashion, people, politics, a mild erotic folk ballad and the space-time continuum.


Robin Mason Exhibition, Fisherman Shelter, Portscatho

The first of 2018’s exhibitions kicks off with Robin Mason at the historical Fisherman’s Shelter in Portscatho. Come and meet Robin and The Harbour Gallery staff from 6pm on 31 Mar for a drinks evening. Then Robin will be there from 11am-4pm on 1 and 2 April.


The Leylines, Acorn, Penzance, Sat 31 Mar


Leylines is a West Country collective established in 2013, with a genre-defying, eclectic sound that ranges from traditional folk to full blown festival rock. Enjoy a combination of folk and punk that creates an individual musical style.


Comedy Cupboard, Old Bakery Studios, Truro, Sat 31 Mar

Easter weekend, sees headliner Murray Lachlyn Young return to the stage at Truro’s Old Bakery, supported by musical comedy genius Louis Burgess, and host MC Claire Rowley. There’ll also be live music, a well stocked bar, Thai Food and an after party. Only 150 tickets available, pre-booking advised.


Rogue Theatre’s Wild Spring Hare, Tehidy Woods, Thurs 30 Mar – Mon 9 Apr

The most gorgeous way to celebrate the arrival of spring here in Cornwall! Join the brilliant Rogue Theatre for their first show of the year, Wild Spring Hare in Tehidy Woods. Wild Spring Hare is a promenade performance of magical stories – including new ones for 2018. An Easter trail like no other, follow the stories and discover a new world of spring. The woodland king will be waiting in the heart of the woods with a chocolate treat for everyone.


The Man Engine, Resurrection Tour, from Sat 31 Mar

Man Engine Resurrection Tour

The Man Engine is the largest mechanical puppet ever constructed in Britain, built to celebrate the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site’s tenth anniversary. After a sellout tour in 2016 – here’s your chance to see him on the streets of Cornwall again. On Sat 31 Mar, The Man Engine will begin his journey at Geevor Tin Mine. Check other dates and venues here.


Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt, Crantock Beach, Newquay, Sun 1 Apr 

Join the rangers on a Cabury Easter Egg Hunt along Crantock beach whilst learning more about the coast. You can choose a smaller, easier route for the small ones or for those older chocolate lovers there is a more challenging route to take.


The Boy Who Climbed Into The Moon, Old Bakery Studios, Truro, Sun 1 Apr

The first family theatre event at Truro’s Old Bakery on the first weekend of the Easter hols. “Some pretty odd ideas are floating around Paul’s street. There’s Mabel, whose brother hides under a brown paper bag. And Clarence the poodle who thinks he can fly. But Paul has the oddest idea of all. He thinks that the moon is a big hole in the sky and he’s going to climb into it…”


Roots Reggae Roast, Mount Pleasant Eco Park, Porthtowan, Sun 1 April

Mount Pleasant Eco Park’s next Roots Reggae Roast in association with Keep Cornwall Fed takes place on Easter Sunday. Enjoy a delicious vegan/veggie roast, local ales and cider from the Eco Park Barn, while you listen to tropical tunes that will transport you from the rolling fields of Cornwall to the Jamaican coast. 3 delicious main course choices will be served (one will always be Vegan) alongside seasonal veg, roasties, Yorkshire pud and your choice of Rich Veg or our Special Jerk Gravy. Adults portion £10 / Kids portion £5.50 . For every meal sold, Keep Cornwall Fed will donate a healthy hot meal to someone living in food poverty.


Bird Bonanza, St Michael’s Mount, Sun 1 April

Join the team from Great Scott Adventures Outdoors for a host of activities that will include finding out about how we can all help our native birds.  Make your own willow bird feeder, take the feather trail challenge, plant a sunflower and have a go at making your own birds nest. Who knows, there may even be a chocolate egg will be laid! Activities free with castle entry.


St Moritz Easter Sweatshirt Workshop with Uzma Bozai (for adults & kids), St Moritz Hotel, Trebetherick, Mon 2 April

Fancy getting creative by the coast? Personalise, monogram or design your Easter themed jumper at the St Moritz Hotel this Easter Monday. The team behind Cornwall-based fashion line Uzma Bozai (stocked at Harvey Nics and Anthropologie) are sharing a sweatshirt workshop, where you will customise your own cool creation.  Adults £50/ kids (3+) £35 – incl sweatshirt and all materials.
