One of the UK’s most hotly tipped artists, Sam Fender, will be heading to the South West in 2018 to play his first two headline shows in the region. The first will be at Truro’s Old Bakery Studios. Sam Fender burst on to the scene with debut single ‘Play God’ in March 2017 and was hailed as one of Annie Mac’s new names on Radio 1.
India Electric Co, Acorn, Penzance, Fri 2 Mar
Sometimes folk, sometimes not. India Electric Company use traditional instruments in contemporary styles to explore diverse themes from Eastern Europe, Irish traditions and urban alienation.
‘Dirty French’ Feast Night, Knightor Winery, Trethurgy, Fri 2 Mar
Knightor Winery has several feasts planned this month, kicking off with Dirty French on Fri 2 Mar. Expect casual, classic and rustic French bistro dishes, including Kittows Sausage braised over fire in Knightor Wine, with Bacon Tartiflette, charred Broccoli and Leeks, and chunky Sourdough with Rhubarb Crème Brûlée to finish.

An international group exhibition exploring the overarching and infinite rhythms of nature, folklore and the occult. Artefacts loaned by The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic and private collections will be on display alongside key artworks from the 20th century and pieces by artists exploring these themes in a contemporary context.
St Piran’s Day, celebrations across Cornwall, from Fri 2 Mar
St Piran is the patron Saint of Cornwall – said to have washed up on the shores of Perranporth tied to a millstone and credited with first discovering tin in the county. Many events are held throughout the county to celebrate this important Saint’s Day. Festivities include Skillywidden, a night of Cornish dance, at AMATA in Penryn (2 Mar), Redruth St Piran’s day festival (3 Mar) and St Piran’s play on the sand dunes at Perranporth (4 Mar).
