I’m the queen of the world! And I’m v.excited about this weekend in Cornwall – from the new Titanic exhibition to the first of the daffodil days.
Titanic Stories, The National Maritime Museum, Falmouth, opens Thurs 8 Mar
Major new exhibition, Titanic Stories, will examine the stories of the Titanic’s momentous sinking on 15 Apr 1912, re-appraising many of the myths, controversies and assumptions that linger. Working in collaboration with private collectors from overseas and national museums in the UK, Titanic Stories presents rare and never-seen-before objects and items, as well as retelling the personal stories of many of the survivors.
Duchy Ballet presents The Nutcracker, Hall for Cornwall, Truro, Thurs 8- Sat 10 Mar
Missing the festive season already? The Duchy Ballet are holding on to that magical feeling – combining realism and fantasy in a beautiful production of The Nutcracker. Commissioned by Duchy Ballet’s Artistic Director, Kay Jones and choreographed by Terence Etheridge.
Heligan Feast Night, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Pentewan, St Austell, Fri 9 Mar
Feast nights are back in the recently refurbished restaurant at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. March’s feast menu will be designed around Heligan’s vast array of heritage root vegetables – from bulls blood beetroot to chestnut mushrooms. £25pp.
Trevethan Gin Dinner, Carew Arms, Antony, Fri 9 Mar
The first of in a series of ‘Meet the Producer’ dinners at Carew Arms will be co-hosted with the team from Trevethan Gin. Dishes will either be created using Trevethan Gin or paired with gin and gin cocktails to create a fun, informative and ultimately delicious experience. A four course meal with gin and pairings and a pre-dinner cocktail – £55
Off-Piste at The Beach Hut, Watergate Bay, Fri 9 Mar – £30pp
A beach bonfire, live music, banquette seating and a three-course menu straight from the French Alps. Wrap up warm, light the fondue and tuck in to sharing platters of breads, cheese, pickles and cured meats. Expect pulled pork poutine, tartiflette, salads, polenta gruyere and a sweet fondue for dessert with fruit, chocolate and marshmallows.
Pama International, Mount Pleasant Eco Park, Porthtowan, Sat 10 Mar
Since its launch in 1968, Trojan Records has led the way presenting the best, classic Jamaican music to fans the world over and was instrumental in introducing reggae to the mainstream. In 2006 Pama International became the first new band to sign to Trojan Records in 30 years. Their show will have two sets; the greatest hits of the world’s most iconic reggae label, reimagined by Pama International, and their original Love & Austerity set. Every guest will receive a Trojan songbook, with all the lyrics and history of each song. The Eco Park’s café, La Cantina will be open for food.
Dogwood Productions: No Finer Life, STERTS Theatre, Liskeard, Sat 10 Mar
Celebrating 100 years since women were given the right to vote, Graham Harvey brings to the stage a ‘mini-masterpiece’ that is set in the Oxfordshire countryside at the end of World War Two, rich in tradition and full of vivid, memorable characters.
