Wouldn’t you though?
Want to express yourself sartorially at the beach? Ha well then, meet the O bag: The customisable beach tote in a range of colours and mix and match handles and accessories to suit your style, outfit and taste. It’s ideal for holidays, picnics, sunbathing at the beach. I know a mudlet who would love to mod one of these (yes I’m talking about you Mils!)
Here’s how it works: You chose your bag body, and then can upstyle it with a zip up liner (great for the beach), add long or short handles, trim and accessories like the colourful trim beach mat. They even do an O bag mini too – so your mini me can get the scaled down version. With trims in everything from suede, hessian to ribbed cashmere, there are dozens of add ons and this is what makes them fun.
Straight outta Italia, with bags of Italian style (see what I did there?), these little rays of sunshine were previously only available in the O bag store in London. But the sun really does shine on the righteous – you can get your mits on them here too – Aloft in Padstow are an official stockist! Squeak!
Aloft opened in May last year and are in the process of opening their second store in St Ives. I cannot wait for that, and rest assured people, when it happens, I’ll let you know all about it. We particularly like start up brands here at Muddy Cornwall, and Aloft are good at recognizing one product specialist brands, start up and products that can be customised or bespoked.
Other lovelies you might recognize in the store are Bensimon shoes (France), parachute beach throws from the US, Gandys flip flops where who you will be aware of but are about ‘Orphans for orphans’, Jollie socks who donate a pair with every purchase to a homeless person, ‘wear a pair, share a pair’. And sunnies by ‘Mosevic’ who have found a way of layering and impregnating denim to form a solid material from which they hand carve unique sunglasses! There are lots more but you get the idea it is about being a little different.
Back to the O bag, Kim Masters at Aloft tells me they sell the classic tote the most, in multiple colours, though the brights seem to be the most popular. Customers tend to buy both rope handles and the leather ones so they can dress it up or down for beach or evening use.
If you’re in Padstow this Easter, pop down and take a look. And If you have an O bag beach, send me your custom shots in the comments below.
