A Muddy call to arms

The escalation of you-know-what means our beloved local businesses are battling to survive - but we have some ideas to help. Ready, steady, support!

Well, things are a bit weird right now, aren’t they?! And while I want to ring-fence Muddy as a coronavirus-free haven to distract, cheer up, and entertain you all during the coming weeks, we can’t ignore what’s happening around us.

As you know, we’ve always been massively passionate about championing the best local independent businesses at Muddy. And while we know that we are now being strongly encouraged to hunker down at home, we also know that so many brilliant local businesses are now struggling.

So let’s think laterally about how we can do help them. Don’t fancy sitting in a café? You could always order a takeaway coffee and brownie. Not in the mood to go out for dinner? Buy a voucher now from your favourite restaurant to use at a later date. Theatre trip or arts event cancelled?

Consider not seeking a ticket refund so that donation goes towards keeping your local cultural hub in business. Order your flowers over the phone, shop online at your favourite boutique, visit your local farmer’s market (less stockpiling and better quality produce) or get your nails done at your house.

These beloved local luminaries are facing unprecedented tough times so let’s make sure we do all we can to help them. Use it or lose it, right?

And let us know if you have any other ideas for supporting your local favourites across Cornwall, we’re all ears, and will do all we can to help.

Love, Rachel

I’m compiling a directory of Cornish food & drink producers who will deliver, and restaurants which are serving takeaway menus. Updated regularly so please feel free to send me news! https://barefootcornwall.com/eating-in-cornwall
