Wouldn’t you though?
I’m aware its June, and usually warm enough to go outside, yes, but alas not without something around the muddy shoulders right now – make your bloomin mind up weather gods purlease… Well here’s a thumb on the nose to summer – I came across Atlantic Blankets from Perranporth at the Cornwall Interiors show a few months back and now am fighting my cat and the youngest Muddy for rights to a snuggle up – I imagined it for a picnic blanket or a late night BBQ wraparound, and he’s totally trumped me and snaffled it for his bed.
Owners Gemma and Alistair are inspired by our gorgeous countryside and work with the best mills to create a mix of fabulous woven treats, in everything from Alpaca, Cashmere, Lambs wool and Mohair.
They have three collections at the moment, Sunshine (beautiful buttercup and spring colours), Seaboard (traditional coastal colours and patterns) and the slightly funkier Gwythian Way – really fab geometric, colour blocks and plains colours all super soft.
You’ll have to hand wash though – machine washing risks spoiling the the gorgeous softness, or worse still, shrinking them to dolly furniture proportions, like Mr MC did to my favourite jumper (sniff).
Lime / grey recycled blanket made from recycled yarns 120 x 150cm £30
They also do baby pouches, shawls and posh doggy blanks too.
What else to tell you? Well to add a little touch of Cornwall, each blanket comes with it’s very own handpicked shell from a Cornish beach and tied with ribbon. If you’re down Perranporth way you may just see Gemma and Alistair with their children, Ruby and Jago, shell-hunting for that very special shell.
