Cornish gifts for the home
Bring a bit of Cornwall to their home with our interiors gift edit, all curated from local Cornish brands. We won't tell if your gift is to yourself.
Throw it on
Bring a pop of colour and texture to the sofa or spare chair with this gorgeous teal velvet throw from Truro’s interior’s haven, Duchy Living.
The ultimate lounging-about luxury! I’m coveting one of these Yeti sheepskin beanbags for some Twixmas time off, in front of the fire with a glass of (white) wine lounging.
A vase of many colours
This fab vase from The Byre Gallery is by John Pollex, whose highly distinctive brightly coloured ceramics have won him a legion of fans and collectors throughout the UK and internationally. The shape is classic Cornish but the colours will go with all manner of interiors. We love.
Snug as a bug
From Atlantic Blankets. this navy herringbone blanket / throw hits all the right style notes and is perfect for adding a splash of subtle colour to your sofa. Layer up with fluffy cushions for added texture.
Splash of colour
Bring a luxe touch to their sofa with one of these velvet cushions made in Falmouth by Cream Cornwall – mix and match, or go all out. We love the combination of the turmeric with a navy throw.
Whatever their drink of choice, make them look damn stylish sipping it with this glazed stoneware mug, made by Cornish potters Leach Pottery for Seasalt (check out the work by Annabelle, the Seasalt apprentice at Leach too, while you’re at it).
Dark evenings call for lots of lights, and we hanker after a Tom Raffield original. Handmade using steam bent wood in his workshop deep in the Cornish countryside, we think this Noctis Wheal table lamp with exposed bulb is both practical and beautiful.
For the wall
Paintings are of course hugely personal but for the right wall and budget they make some of the most lovely gifts. Plenty of choice at The Byre Gallery, but we’re loving the peaceful beauty and simplicity of this oil painting by Nicola Mosley called Break of Day.
You can’t go wrong with a candle like this – sea salt which evokes walks along the Cornish coast, hand-made and in a ceramic pot, to boot.
Sunbeam me up
Make like you live at The Pig with one of Sunbeam Jackie’s amazing one-off now iconic parasol designs, endorsed by Liberty of London. Made of hand-oiled ash timber components all machined in Cornwall, stainless steel mechanisms welded and polished by a marine welder in Falmouth and the most beautiful fabrics, these parasols are a waterproof work of art.
