We’re on the holiday home run folks! Nevermind the Olympics – its a personal best for me managing it this far without mainlining a good gin.

So what’s on? Sailing, eating, den-making, rockpooling, loads of theatre too, plus our regular calendar of daily events (full calendar for the weeks ahead HERE) – search by category or by town.

Multiple day events are listed below (since they make my fabulous calendar messy), but I think you’ll want to know about them. #YouGotThis!

There are no upcoming events at this time.

The Lost Summer, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, until 4 Sept

Family_Event_Cornwall

A return to outdoor play and summer adventure awaits you at Heligan. Den building at Den Base Camp on East Lawn: campfires, toasting marshmallows, bushcraft or just chilling in a hammock. A team of wildcraft experts will be on hand daily to enhance your wilderness skills and to teach you all about survival in the wild; you can even have a go at the ancient art of fire striking. Lots to see and do – and more importantly completely wear them out.

No jokes about other crew members now, this is a classy blog! On show will be a selection of original art work and storyboards to jog those childhood memories. The gallery have put together some jolly nice Pugwash pirate academy activity packs to keep your nautical nitwits occupied. let them spend some holiday money on Pugwash postcards and t-shirts in the gallery shop.

One I wish I’d done for A level – give me a riotous farcical comedy over that Scottish play any day of the week! John Falstaff cooks up ‘a cunning plan’ to solve his financial woes by seducing two respectable ladies and helping himself to their husbands moolah.  When they discover his duplicity, there’s a mad chase through the town – upstairs, downstairs and, yes, in my lady’s chamber – ending in the luckless knight’s humiliation at the hands of a bunch of unlikely fairies a mad chase through the town – upstairs, downstairs and, yes, in my lady’s chamber – ending in his humiliation at the hands of a bunch of unlikely fairies.

Isles of Scilly Regatta Fri 26 – Mon 29 Aug

Next Friday (26 August), a small fleet of 25 classic and traditional boats will sail into St. Mary’s harbour from Falmouth, launching a weekend-long celebration of the Isles of Scilly’s unique maritime history, a Round the Island race and the Red Arrows will top the bill on the final day.

For the nippers, a swashbuckling pirate cruise from St. Mary’s to St. Martin’s on Saturday afternoon, with storytelling, colourful nautical characters and an island treasure hunt at Karma St. Martin’s Hotel. Pop-up performances of poems, stories and theatre will surprise and entertain outdoors, in shops and on boats. And Scilly’s much-loved annual RNLI Water Carnival takes place on the Sunday, with favourites such as a raft race, slippery pole and ‘Dunk the Hunk’.

Visiting the Islands’ Regatta for the day is easy (take my word for it). Sail to St. Mary’s on the Scillonian III from Penzance. Enjoy an afternoon at the regatta before returning by ship at the end of a memorable day. If you fancy staying a bit longer, stay at

The New Inn on Tresco – I checked just this week and they had some availability, but you’ll have to be quick.

Good to know: Anyone sailing or flying to Scilly for the event can take advantage of a special 10% discount on travel, valid from 24 to 31 August. Quote MTM when making your booking through Isles of Scilly Travel

If you’re part of the TR massive, take advantage of 30% off for locals’ on day trip sailings on Sundays in August and September.
