Eat out

  • Feast At Nancarrow

Feast nights at Nancarrow are one of Cornwall’s hottest foodie tickets thanks to the farm’s amazing, organic seasonal menus and picture-perfect setting. Get the Muddy verdict and then get booking for May before I beat you to it!

  • The Gurnard’s Head

My ultimate destination pub, in beautiful West Penwith! Go for the fish, go for the wine, go for the scenery. You won’t be disappointed.

  • The Potager Garden & Café

This idyllic cafe near Falmouth serves up delicious, organic, veggie food, fresh juices and gluten-free cakes – you can’t help but feel good here.

  • Newlyn Gem: The Tolcarne Inn

Sample some amazing local seafood at Ben Tunnicliffe’s laidback Cornish pub (and one-time smuggler’s haunt)…

  • A Cornish Cookery Course for Seafood Lovers

There is nowhere better to master the finer points of fish cookery (and eat like a queen) than at Rick Stein’s Padstow school.

  • Top Pub: The Mexico Inn

Like a fool, I’ve been driving straight past this brilliant foodie pub on the road from Penzance to Marazion. Read all about this local favourite and get the Muddy verdict.

    • Sundays At The Star & Garter

An amazing slow-cooked Sunday roast and stunning waterside views await at this gastro pub on Falmouth’s old high street.

    • Perfect Penzance Breakfast

Have you ever sat drinking coffee after a rough week and thought ‘perhaps I’ll give it all up and run a café by the sea’? Well Katie and Tristan of The Front Room in Penzance, are just like you — but with a little more follow through.

The couple took the reins at this super-popular, quirky/cool café less than a year ago but are already very much part of the furniture. A troupe of regulars and loyal staff give the café a friendly, community feel and the eclectic décor is as Instagram-friendly as the coffee.

      • Little Meva Pub with Bags of Personality

A short walk from bustling Mevagissey harbour, ancient local, The Kings Arms is being lovingly restored to its former glory. Owners Helen and Kris bought this 17th century free house two and a half years ago and it’s a labour of love that’s evident in every detail.

      • Funky Newquay Brunch Spot: The Garden Café

Every mum needs an emergency coffee-and-cake destination for those days when you feel you can’t go on and this is how, two years ago I discovered The Garden Café in Newquay’s Trenance Gardens. Being near the zoo, Waterworld swimming pools and a decent playground, it’s inevitably popular with the buggy brigade in the mornings but for a little café it wears a lot of hats (and serves up a really good coffee too). From casual lunch meetings to weekend beers and brunches, monthly supper clubs to biannual DJ nights – there’s plenty to please the loyal, local following.
