<p>Jess and Richard were until recently behind Little Palais, in the Old Customs House on the harbour front at St Ives. After handing the keys to their friends (and Muddy Awards finalists) Milieu Studios, they’re now <a href="https://www.instagram.com/palaisprovisions/">back in their old home</a> on Barnoon Hill, serving up their home-made ice cream by day and cocktails later on. Even the waffle cones are hand-made in house, and they’re delicious, but if you don’t have a cone your ice cream comes served in a beautiful metal ice-cream dish. Options last week were bread and butter pudding, fig leaf and blackcurrant but flavours change when Jess makes a new batch.</p>



<h1 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-moomaid-of-zennor">Moomaid of Zennor</h1>



<p>Based on Cornwall’s remote and rugged west coast at Zennor, Moomaid is a family business that makes luxury farmhouse ice cream in a range of creative, often Cornish-themed, flavours &#8211; ranging from Shipwreck to fruit sorbets. The branding is irresistible too – so cute they have a created a line of hoodies, t-shirts and bags. You&#8217;ll find Moomaid on the menu in all sorts of restaurants and cafés, but our favourite way to eat is to go to one of the <a href="https://www.moomaidofzennor.com/parlours/">Moomaid parlours</a> &#8211; St Ives, Porthtowan or St Just (sadly the lovely one in Zennor itself is closed for the time being).</p>

<h1 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-callestick">Callestick</h1>



<p>Nestled in a beautiful Cornish valley not far from Truro, Callestick Farm is a Muddy family favourite. Their ice cream is made with free range milk from their own grass-fed herd and in the summer months a visit to the farm and tea room is a brilliant way to pass an hour or so with the kids. Callestick Farm also supplies many local restaurants, hotels and Cornish attractions.</p>

<h1 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-kelly-s">Kelly’s</h1>

<p>One of Cornwall&#8217;s biggest ice cream makers and sellers, this is one you can find in your local supermarket freezer to eat at home. But, they&#8217;re based in Bodmin, so their <a href="https://www.kellysofcornwall.co.uk/">ice cream vans</a> are often on Cornwall&#8217;s beaches like Polzeath (above) and Harlyn, where you can get a cone.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s a Muddy favourite beach side café and we often mention and recommend their picnic lunches and glorious evening ticketed feast nights, but it should be noted that the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/hiddenhut/">Hidden Hut</a> team, led by Simon and Jemma, also serve their own handmade ice cream using Cornish clotted cream, plus sorbets and fresh fruit ice lollies when in season.</p>



<h1 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-treleavens">Treleavens</h1>



<p>More about grown-up indulgence than kid-friendly cones, although they do lots of plain flavours too, Treleavens supply some of Cornwall’s finest kitchens with their luxurious, artisan ice creams and sorbets. If you are a restaurant customer, their flavour range is extensive, creative and customisable and there are lots of sophisticated boozy options.</p>

<h1 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-roskillys">Roskillys</h1>



<p>Roskilly’s is an organic farm on the beautiful Lizard Peninsula that makes gorgeous Cornish ice cream, using rich creamy milk from their Jersey herd. You can visit the farm to meet the animals, walk the farm trails and indulge at the ice cream parlour or Croust House Restaurant. You will also see their popular flavours stocked in shops and eateries across the duchy and beyond.</p>

<h1 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-jelbert-s-newlyn">Jelbert&#8217;s, Newlyn</h1>

<p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/jelbertsicecream/">Jelbert&#8217;s</a> make and serve one kind of ice cream only &#8211; vanilla with clotted cream on top! It&#8217;s the same recipe the family has been perfecting for the past 70 years and they&#8217;re only open during the day in the summer in Newlyn, near Penzance, but it&#8217;s worth the trip to seek them out! Fun fact &#8211; the Jelbert family isn&#8217;t just famous for their ice cream, Jelbert&#8217;s was started by Olympic rower Helen Glover&#8217;s great-grandfather.</p>

<p>Bruno and Athina, aka <a href="https://www.instagram.com/the.magic.whisk/">The Magic Whisk</a> are Muddy Award finalists and run a micro-bakery, from which they serve their own soft-serve ice-cream using Treleague Dairy milk and cream, plus locally grown fruits for the sauces. Find them popping up at farmers markets across the Duchy, plus new for the summer they will be at Tregew Foodbarn Wednesday night summer markets. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-troytown-ice-cream">Troytown Ice Cream</h2>

<p><a href="https://troytown.co.uk/troytown-farm-dairy/">Troytown </a>make their own ice cream and sorbets on the tiny island of St Agnes, Isles of Scilly, from their Guernsey and Aryeshire cows for a luxurious thick creamy texture &#8211; we first encountered them at <a href="https://www.julietsgardenrestaurant.co.uk/">Juliet&#8217;s Garden</a>, St Mary&#8217;s, where they were served in cute glass sundae bowls &#8211; with the waffle cone on the side as a garnish!</p>



<h1 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-tall-ships-creamery">Tall Ships Creamery</h1>



<p><a href="https://www.tallshipscreamery.co.uk/">Award winning creamery</a> near St Austell, who make a variety of flavours. Find their little kiosk at Charlestown.</p>

<p>Have you even eaten a Cornish ice cream if you&#8217;ve not tried a legendary Hedgehog cone from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ChapelPorthBeachCafe/">Chapel Porth Beach Café</a> &#8211; it&#8217;s a cone with vanilla ice cream, then covered in clotted cream, then rolled in hazelnuts. Always demolished so quickly, I couldn&#8217;t find a photo at all!</p>
