<p>I love &#8217;em! Although they&#8217;re not practical for dog sitting/ walking. But if you&#8217;re just gonna wander round town, or do the beach, then they&#8217;re the best thing ever! Like shoes with air conditioning! Also, they&#8217;re good for people who find buckles a bit fiddly! ☺</p>

<p>I prefer my sequin Skecher sandals.  Super comfortable and the first thong sandal I have ever been able to tolerate.  I will always think of Velcro sandals as something worn by women with facial hair.  And I don’t mean brows.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve always had a soft spot for Teva sandals. Two decades ago I spent the best summer of my life camping in the south of France, working for an outdoor activities centre by day and running wild with a huge gang of pals by night. The only pair of shoes I owned were my beloved Tevas. So when I saw them popping up again recently all over Instagram, I had to smile. Yes, they&#8217;re ridiculously ugly but they&#8217;re as comfy as hell. And I love how they&#8217;re defiantly anti-fashion &#8211; I mean, they have Velcro straps, goddammit. Before you condemn them out of hand, I urge you to do your research and you might be surprised by what you find. <p>Birkenstocks I can just about countenance, but hiking sandals? They can, well, take a hike, quite frankly. They might be deeply, mystifyingly fashionable right now but the only people who should have velcro on their shoes are those not yet old enough to manage buckles. Tevas and the like have so many terrible connotations that I just can&#8217;t get past &#8211; geography teachers; competitive dads with bored kids on a route march along a cliff top walk; campers, gap year students and their incessantly boring tales of travelling around Thailand and how they managed to eat for three weeks on a budget of 65p. I get the arguments about comfort and practicality but with all the amazing flat shoes around at the moment, there&#8217;s absolutely no need to compromise on style. I&#8217;ll stick to my Veja trainers, thank you.</p>
