Natural beauty that works!
Natural beauty products used to be worthy but not that effective. Well, not any more! Meet your new favourite no-nasties brands.
How pretty are these bath salts? Just looking at them makes me want to down tools, grab a book and dive in to a long, hot soak. They’re from new(ish) beauty upstarts By Sarah London, who are all-natural, largely organic, vegan and cruelty free; use recyclable glass in their packaging and hand produce everything in England. Which basically ticks all the boxes in terms of what we want from brands right now, doesn’t it?
What I especially love about them is they’re totally transparent about their ingredients (often not the case), clearly listing them on the front of their packaging. In this case, it’s just Himalayan pink salt, sea salt and French clay.
The titular Sarah had a very personal reason for developing her line of skincare, hair and body oils and bath products. Her sister Lauren was suffering from leukaemia, which left her with very delicate skin that reacted badly to her usual products so Sarah began playing around with chemical-free formulations until she struck gold. Happily Lauren made a full recovery, with Sarah as her stem cell donor, and the sisters formally launched By Sarah London about 18 months ago. Sweet story, eh?
I’ve been trying out the Green Clay Cleansing Balm (organic apricot oil, coconut oil, French green clay, beeswax) which is gorgeously soothing and nourishing, especially in these dog days of winter when your skin can be really dry. Speaking of which, a light slick of the Organic Facial Oil before bed is really helping out on that front (and not blocking my pores). Back in the olden days, natural beauty was worthy but didn’t necessarily work that brilliantly. That’s definitely changed.
Want more, more, more? Here’s four other lines we love at Muddy.
Beautifully packaged, well priced, crammed with fragrant botanicals, 100 percent natural and free from sulphates, parabens, artificial colours and fragrances – what’s not to like about Ermana? What’s more, founder Claire is based in Great Haseley, Oxfordshire, so you’re shopping local too. Try the Cleanse and Comfort Balms.
This luxe brand is made in Wales with all naturally-derived ingredients. I’m a big fan of the Renaissance Mask – a spa in a jar, basically.
With the rise of veganism comes the rise of vegan beauty. B was voted best vegan brand by Glamourmagazine and it’s exclusive to Superdrug, which means it’s a cheap as chips (chips are vegan, aren’t they?). There’s a vast range of skincare for all ages, make-up and men’s products.
We’ve told you about the brilliance of Balance Me before but here’s a reminder if you weren’t listening (naughty). If you splurge on one product, make it the best-selling Vitamin C Repair Serum which is currently making my mug glowier than J.Lo in a sauna.
