Cornwall Gold, Redruth

Explore Cornwall’s mining past and learn all about the history of tin at Cornwall Gold, a hidden gem with plenty of free children’s activities.

Looking for the perfect family day out in Cornwall? Somewhere to inspire, entertain and educate all in one place? Then look no further than Cornwall Gold.

Located in the heart of Cornwall’s historic mining district, close to Redruth, St Agnes and St Ives, Cornwall Gold offers free entry, free parking and a fantastic mix of heritage, family activities, shopping and food.

Step inside and discover the free interactive Tolgus Exhibition showcasing the fascinating story of Cornish tin milling. Watch historic machinery, learn how tin was separated from rock and uncover the stories of the people who helped shape Cornwall’s industrial heritage.

Once you’ve explored the exhibition, try your luck panning for gold, take on the popular Pick A Diamond activity (£5), or let little ones enjoy the dressing-up area where they can become a traditional Bal Maiden or Tin Miller for the day.

After a break in The Cornish Pantry café, browse the jewellery showroom for unique Cornish gifts and souvenirs, or enjoy one of the many hands-on activities available, including Bear Works, Create & Paint Pottery and the popular Pick A Pearl experience, where you can discover a real pearl and have it transformed into a piece of jewellery.

New for 2026 is the Summer of Play – a free outdoor play area where children can race around the running track, jump along the log trail, throw bean bags, play noughts and crosses, and watch their pooh sticks float down the ancient Tolgus Stream. This natural play space has been created using recycled logs from trees that fell during Storm Goretti, giving them a new purpose for families to enjoy.

Dog friendly, fully accessible, open daily, with free entry and free parking.
