Lewinnick Lodge, Newquay

Boutique, cliff-side restaurant with rooms a world away from the bustling heart of Newquay yet only moments along the headland.

Just south of the main town of Newquay, marking the SW end of Fistral, stands the East Pentire headland, home to Lewinnick Lodge. Quiet and rugged, and yet just a few minutes by car (or 20-minute walk) from the town centre, you’ll find this restaurant/bar with rooms emerging from the craggy cliffs.

In summer, the cliff-side terrace and decking is the place to enjoy an al fresco lunch or evening meal, or arrive after work for a sundowner; seasonal dining celebrates the flavours on their doorstep, from land to sea, as curated by a talented chef team and offer excellent value for money.

In winter, watch the winter storms roll in off the Atlantic Ocean. The wild and stormy seas hitting the dramatic north Cornish coastline are a spectacular sight and Lewinnick Lodge becomes a place to linger for a different reason; long lazy breakfasts, a glass of wine and your favourite book, lunches that go on until dusk.

Almost all 17 rooms have a partial or full sea view; drift off to the sounds of the waves outside the window. The larger rooms feature free-standing baths, emperor-sized beds, and all rooms have Egyptian cotton sheets, monsoon showers and little luxuries including face cloths and free wifi. The family suite sleeps up to four and is also dog-friendly and the luxury and oceanside double rooms can accommodate an extra z-bed for a child.

Beyond the doors of Lewinnick Lodge you’ll find a glorious walk where you can watch the sunset over an ancient Bronze Age tumulus (round barrow).
