Once designed with strength, security and longevity in mind, Polhawn Fort never saw the threat it was built to defend in the 1860s, and has been beautifully reimagined for the past 30 years as a wedding venue. Available for whole site bookings for exclusive use for weddings or events, eight spacious suites and bedrooms have been designed to maximise privacy and peacefulness.

The fort is a grade II listed building of historical significance, just over the border from Plymouth in what is often described as the forgotten corner of Cornwall, surrounded by sea, and above a private protected cove with beach-view sauna. West facing lawns catch the sunset, and the South West Coast Path runs above the fort on the way to Rame Head. Topped by Saint Michael’s chapel, dating back to the eleventh century, this was one of the very first light houses where in the Middle Ages a monk kept a light burning for ships navigation.

New for 2025 are Wellness Weddings and Homestay Retreats, where guests are invited to curate their own personal wellness experiences around their wedding day. Guests can prioritise spending quality time together and creating unforgettable memories, all while embracing the tranquillity of the surrounding landscape.  Wild swimming, yoga, sound baths and breath-work sessions, foraging walks, couples massage, herbalist-led tea experiences and Sauna Rituals are all available options.

Included in a wedding booking are all eight rooms, sleeping 16, plus exclusive use of Polhawn Fort, gardens, roof-top tent, the garden, house and private beach. Bring your own alcohol, with no corkage charge, plus private car park for guests and team on hand to assist in the lead-up to and on the day itself. Visit as many times on change-over days as you want in the lead up to your booking, and return after the day by arrangement – the first guests to marry at Polhawn back in 1995 are returning soon for their 30th anniversary.
