A winner with the locals as well as the glamorous down from London clientele,  The PIG at Harlyn Bay‘s outside restaurant The Lobster Shed is an excellent place to drink a glass of rose, or a local fizz or beer, tuck into a lobster fresh out of the sea, and watch the light slip away over the water. It’s all about the wood-oven and local charcoal fired grill, so expect wood roasted fresh lobster, chargrilled meats, BBQd veggies as well as daily picked salads, fresh crab with sourdough and Old School Ice Cream Sundaes to finish with.

The Lobster Shed is, as you’d expect if you’ve visited any other Pigs, laidback and stylish. Wooden feasting tables and more intimate terrace tables sit side by side under Sunbeam Jackie parasols, backed by the wood-fired ovens and bar area, looking out through the wildflower meadows and dramatic coastline over Harlyn Bay.

All the Pigs subscribe to the idea that the produce served should be local – ideally grown in the hotel’s kitchen gardens or, if not, locally sourced within twenty five-miles. So, the lobsters are Padstow Lobsters, the best in Cornwall, pretty much straight out of the sea in front of the hotel and onto your plate – within 3 miles probably, let alone 25. For each lobster sold, £1 is donated to The National Lobster Hatchery, Padstow’s lobster charity.

The Lobster Shed will be opening for the summer under a canvas roof from 12 April 2021, complete with heaters and blankets. Hot, sunny days are glorious but can sometimes be few and far between, so dress appropriately and come with a pioneering spirit – the team at The PIG are a hardy bunch and will keep serving unless super strong winds or extreme weather is forecast, in which case The Lobster Shed team will contact all bookings for that day (by email) to let them know that their booking will need to be re-arranged for a future date.
