5 Cornish Christmas Markets
With Christmas just around the corner (how?! it was Easter last week!) we’ve rounded up the top Cornish Christmas markets to get you in the festive mood!
- Padstow Christmas Festival 1st-4th December
Why? Does it get much christmassier than Padstow? Christmas lights hung all around the harbour, smell of festive food hanging in the air and the sound of Christmas carols being sung. I always make sure I pop down to Padstow in December, it’s beautiful all year round, but especially at Christmas time. This year I’ll be making sure I head down whilst the festival is on.
What else? For all you foodies, Padstow as we know, is home to some of the best chef’s in the country, and when the festival is on you can witness those and some other famous faces in their cookery demonstrations. This year there is over 40 renowned chefs, including; Rick Stein (plus family), Phil Vickery, Francis Quinn (Bake Off Winner), Tim Kerridge and Fern Britton.

2. Truro Victorian Market 13th-18th December
Why? Take a step back in time, to the Victorian era to be precise. Truro’s Victorian Market has been running for 12 years now, and thousands of visitors flock every year to see the unique stalls and everyone in their Victorian costumes.
What else? Get out of the cold and into the huge heated marquee, full of yummy Christmassy foods and gift inspirations. Wednesday is late night shopping night in Truro, so the market is open until 9:00pm on those nights and make sure you look out for the street theatre entertainment. Great to keep the kids entertained.

3. Outlaws Christmas Market 8th-10th December
Why? You’ll be able to find a present for everyone at this Christmas market, with 38 of the best artisan stalls.
What else? Plonked in the middle of Falmouth town centre, it’s their only pop-up Christmas market. So if you want to get Christmassy, this is the place. With delicious street food, live music and copious amounts of mulled wine, you’ll be feeling festive in no time.

4. Fowey Christmas Market 9th-11th December
Why? Fowey is one of my most favourite places in Cornwall, and their Christmas market does not disappoint. There will be a selection of stalls in the town quay marquees, as well as the town hall and the webb street market. Not only that, but there is another set of stalls in the Fowey leisure centre, but don’t worry, they’ve helpfully put on a regular mini bus service between the two.
What else? Even Santa can’t miss this one! He’ll be there on the opening evening, arriving by tug boat (Rudolph needs his rest right?). There will then be a lantern parade and a Samba band following Santa to the church gates, where the Christmas lights will be switched on. Then you can enjoy the Christmas market all lit up in festive glory, sipping on mulled wine, munching a hog roast? On the Saturday and Sunday of the market, there will even be stilt walkers to guide you from the market to the town centre, guiding you into more shopping heaven (Pink Lemons, I’m looking at you).

5. Lost Gardens of Heligan Christmas Fair 10th-11th December
Why? It’s Heligan’s first year of putting on a Christmas fair, in such beautiful surroundings you would be mad to miss out on this one. They’ve invited over seventy local producers, so you can be sure to find a present for everyone at this fair.
What else? Make sure you head into the Heligan Kitchen for a scrummy seasonal treat, and a glass of something mulled. If you aren’t sorted for your Christmas din dins yet (I can’t be the only one) why not pop into Lobbs Farm Shop on the way back to your car and order up your turkey.
