<p>I am incredibly fortunate to live on the north coast of Cornwall. I moved here from Plymouth twenty-three years ago with my husband, who was in the military back then and posted to RAF St Mawgan, near Newquay. Over the past two decades, I’ve loved exploring Cornwall during all its seasons, especially the quiet ones!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-lewinnick-lodge-pentire">Lewinnick Lodge, Pentire</h2>

<p>My favourite restaurant for special occasions is the Lewinnick Lodge, in Pentire, which has great food and the most extraordinary views of the sea. It’s perched up on the cliffs and has lots of outdoor seating, so it almost feels like lounging on the deck of a boat.</p>

<p>My favourite beach is Tolcarne Beach, as when the tides are at their lowest you can explore the secret coves to collect sea glass and swim in the famous “mermaid’s pool”.</p>

<p>My favourite coast path walk is around the poppy fields of West Pentire when they’re ablaze with scarlet flowers in June, and I also love a stroll on Fistral Beach at sunset when the waves are pumping and the surfers are out in force.</p>

<p>My favourite café is the Cove Café in Hayle Towans. As a child, I used to holiday in Riviere Towans every year, as my Auntie Annie owned a chalet there. A week by that wide golden beach felt like heaven and I never wanted to leave.</p>

<p>For a spa experience, I like to go to The Aqua Club at The Headland Hotel, above, with my friends. I highly recommend their “Laze &amp; Lunch” offer, which includes all the pool facilities along with a delicious lunch.</p>

<p>St. Ives is my favourite Cornish town and I have many happy memories of sitting outside the Sloop Inn with my author pal Liz Kessler of Emily Windsnap fame, who lived in St. Ives for many years. Every time I pass the Sloop, I think of the laughs I had there with Liz and the discussions we had about the publishing industry and the books we were working on.</p>

<p>For beauty treats, I like to visit Beautique, which recently won a Muddy Stiletto Award for best beauty salon in Cornwall. If I’m ever struck with writer’s block, I find that a back massage helps me to work out both muscle and plot knots!</p>
