This five-part series sees Josie setting off on a tour through the region’s richest flavours and finest producers, celebrating everything that makes the Westcountry tick – people, landscapes and seriously good food; thankfully, swapping bush tucker trials for proper Westcountry feasting.

Josie starts with getting in the sea with a coasteering jump, before meeting passionate dairy farmers at Little Callestock Farm at Zelah near Truro. Nick and Liz Down have a herd of 70 jersey cows where the milk heads straight to the Rodda&#8217;s creamery to be turned into clotted cream, and they introduce Josie to the cows and calves. 



Next stop is the Eustice family&#8217;s Trevaskis Farm where Josie goes raspberry and strawberry picking, which she takes with her to use in chef Paul Ainsworth’s pretty delicious sounding trifle. 



A visit to the Muddy Award winning Cornish Seal Santuary at Gweek to meet and help feed the resident seals is her next stop.

Then it is down to the fishing port at Newlyn to join Tom Lambourn on his boat. Fishing is in his family, but his boat My Lass is his own venture, returning to the fishing life after heading away from Cornwall to university. Tom and Josie cross Mounts Bay and go past St Michael&#8217;s Mount, where Josie helps Tom lift his lobster pots ready to cook for a scenic BBQ right on the beach on their return.



Among the tasty Cornish treats that Josie tries are hedgehog ice cream at Chapel Porth, Hevva cake, and Paul&#8217;s fish and chips.

Hi Josie, what can you tell us about the show?



It is a real nod to the Westcountry that I am very, very proud to be part of. I’m proud to say I’m a born and bred west country girl. With its gentle, rolling hills, rugged moors and gorgeous coastline, it’s always been a place close to my heart. If you are a foodie and you love the Westcountry, you’re going to love this show!

What was it like working with Paul Ainsworth?



It was the first time I’ve met him, although I’ve always tried to get into his restaurant! It was an amazing experience making the show together.



He made so many incredible dishes, with layers of flavour in a way I’ve never experienced before. We’d source the ingredients and he’d show me how to transform these wholesome ingredients into mouthwatering, unforgettable dishes!

The series is made in association with Rodda’s. What’s the importance of cream tea in the Westcountry?



It’s a staple. If you come down to the Westcountry, even where I am near Bath, a cream tea is very important. If you really like somebody, you’d take them out for a lovely cream tea. It’s all about the cream, and everyone down here loves Rodda’s. 



What&#8217;s your dream weekend in Cornwall?



I love Cornwall. I’d have some lunch at a Stein’s restaurant, before going surfing. I’ve always wanted to go to Paul Ainsworth’s No. 6 in Padstow; if you want to go, book early! I’d go there for dinner. The next day, I’d go for a cream tea.
