<p>Muddy Award winning <em>Love of Lemons </em>won best boutique in the 2023 awards and it&#8217;s also a favourite place to hunt out vintage gems (like the denim shorts I&#8217;ve lived in for the past few summers). Selling a handpicked curation of Vintage collections from the US &#8211; Italy &#8211; France alongside sustainably produced new brands, <em>Love of Lemons </em>is a must on your Nansledan too-shop list. </p>

<p><em>Really Groovy </em>and <em>Groovy 2 </em>are both in Camelford, one just by the park (above) and the other on the high street. RG describes itself as an Aladdin&#8217;s Cave and it really is &#8211; there are rooms full of garments, divided loosely by type. Give yourself plenty of time, I&#8217;ve whiled away a good afternoon&#8217;s worth of time trying on things. Also does a good line in accessories, and if you require any sort of costume, this can be a good place to start. I scored myself a Barbie pink shirt here recently to wear to the cinema, and my friend found a bargain of a coat which gets her compliments every time she wears it. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">COMING SOON! Really Groovy Wadebridge</h2>



<p>Imagine my excitement when I saw that they&#8217;re also opening a Wadebridge branch! No opening details yet, but it&#8217;s on Molesworth Street where the Gin shop used to be, opposite the Molesworth Arms.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/pippas_vintage/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pippa&#8217;s Vintage</a>, Wadebridge</h2>



<p>Speaking of Wadebridge, Pippa&#8217;s is another gem of a vintage shop, tucked in round the back of the main shops on Chapel Lane. For a while Pippa&#8217;s was appointment only but it&#8217;s now back open daily except Sunday. Expect a carefully selected eclectic mix of vintage items including male and female fashion, plus homewares and accessories. Pippa&#8217;s also has a vintage china hire business, if you&#8217;re in the market for a fancy afternoon tea party or celebration.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/black_jacket_vintage/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Black Jacket Vintage</a>, Penzance</h2>



<p>On Market Jew Street just near to the Edge of the World Bookshop is <em>Black Jacket Vintage, </em>home to all sorts of vintage clothes and accessories. Open daily except for Sunday (August only for Sunday opening) there&#8217;s a wide range of stock, and you can also buy online.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/happydais_vintage/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Happy Dais Vintage</a>, Penzance</h2>



<p>Also in Penzance, at the top of Chapel Street, is <em>Happy Dais. </em>Specialising in more modern vintage (70s &#8211; 90s) this little shop has plenty of rotating stock to look through, which also changes up seasonally. Always worth a look when you&#8217;re perusing the shops of Chapel Street.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/vintage_superstore_cornwall/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vintage Superstore</a> Cornwall, Kennards House, Launceston</h2>



<p>Open seven days a week, this mega-shop also has a sister in Plymouth. Specialising in American imports as well as jeans and mens fashion, this is the place to take your husbands / boyfriends / partners / sons especially if they like Levis, Carhartt, Dickies and other workwear brands, as there are loads of options. The women aren&#8217;t left out (my sister picked up an awesome denim jacket, I have bought several jumpers) but the stock here is def geared more towards men!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/beyoursass/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Be Your Sass</a>, St Columb Major</h2>



<p>Love bold, bright, outrageous? After cool classics or funky festival gear? Muddy Award finalists in 2021, <em>Be Your Sass</em> advocate wearing what makes you happy and the shop is full of brightly coloured temptation! Owner Josie brings a hugely enthusiastic vibe and you will leave a lot more brightly than you arrived.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cornwall Hospice Care Retro &amp; Vintage Shops, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/retrofalmouth/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Falmouth</a>, Launceston and St Ives</h2>



<p>We can&#8217;t possibly list out all of Cornwall&#8217;s charity shops, for there are plenty in every town and high street, many of them worth a rummage for a bargain, but Cornwall Hospice Care&#8217;s special vintage shops deserve a mention. The three branches, Falmouth, Launceston and St Ives are where all the donated vintage and retro items end up, so no Primark cast-offs here! </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-kilo-sales-around-cornwall">Kilo sales, around Cornwall</h2>



<p>Sharpen your elbows at a pop-up kilo sale. Rummage through rails and rails (and rails) of vintage/pre-loved clothes and accessories and pay by weight at the end, usually around £15-20/kilo. The organisers replenish the rails as the day goes on so you don’t lose out if you’re not one of the first in. They’re a great way to pick up well-known brands and unusual items from different eras and from around the world but they often don’t have changing rooms. Penzance, St Ives and Bar Silo in Fowey have all hosted them in the past year, along with the Vintage Superstore in Launceston which runs regular events. Keep an eye on social!</p>

<p>Yes, that&#8217;s yours truly in a deadstock frock from Pink Lemons in Fowey at the Muddy awards last year (deadstock is basically fashion leftovers, so fabric that was either left at the end after a run of clothes, or that didn&#8217;t make it into production, that is then saved from landfill and made into other, smaller runs). Pink Lemons also sells accessories and other sustainable fashion bits.</p>

<p>Respect due, The Real McCoy has been bringing cool to Exeter’s Fore Street since the 80s, way before vintage was on trend, and even more so now American retro is back with a vengeance, so it’s got a wide appeal for all ages. Great for worn-in leather gear, from Shearling fur-trimmed Aviators to biker jackets, waistcoats and Doc Martins to dainty 1940s frocks. (And super nostalgic as this is where I used to buy my student wear in the early 00s!)</p>
