<p>Muddy Award winning <em>Love of Lemons </em>won best boutique in the 2023 and 2024 awards and it&#8217;s also a favourite place to hunt out vintage gems (like the denim shorts I&#8217;ve lived in for the past few summers). Selling a handpicked curation of Vintage collections from the US &#8211; Italy &#8211; France alongside sustainably produced new brands, <em>Love of Lemons </em>is a must on your Nansledan too-shop list. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-dandi-wadebridge"><a href="https://dandicornwall.co.uk/">Dandi</a>, Wadebridge</h2>



<p>A finalist in the Muddy Awards for 2025, Dandi is redefining shopping for the discerning in North Cornwall. The beauty of Dandi is it works for everyone: you bring in your wardrobe blockers that you don&#8217;t wear any longer and they&#8217;ll sell them for you. It&#8217;s £1 per item and that gets you 6 weeks on the rails &#8211; when it sells, you get 50% of the sale price, which you can take in cash, or bank as credit. Buyers meanwhile get access to a whole treasure trove of fashion goodies; from Mulberry handbags to leather jackets, via everything you could need for a new season update, or to find something new for a date, or event &#8211; and footwear and accessories too. I&#8217;ve bought everything from a silk skirt to a winter coat, and sold some dresses that no longer fit. Win, win! (Women&#8217;s wear only)</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/black_jacket_vintage/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Black Jacket Vintage</a>, Penzance</h2>



<p>On Market Jew Street just near to the Edge of the World Bookshop is <em>Black Jacket Vintage, </em>home to all sorts of vintage clothes and accessories. Open daily, there&#8217;s a wide range of stock, and you can also buy online.</p>

<p><em>Really Groovy </em>is on Molesworth Street in Wadebridge. RG describes itself as an Aladdin&#8217;s Cave and it really is &#8211; there are rooms full of garments, divided loosely by type. Give yourself plenty of time, I&#8217;ve whiled away a good afternoon&#8217;s worth of time trying on things. Also does a good line in accessories, and if you require any sort of costume, this can be a good place to start. I scored myself a Barbie pink shirt here, and my friend found a bargain of a coat which gets her compliments every time she wears it. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/happydais_vintage/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Happy Dais Vintage</a>, Penzance</h2>



<p>In Penzance, at the top of Chapel Street, is <em>Happy Dais. </em>Specialising in more modern vintage (70s &#8211; 90s) this little shop has plenty of rotating stock to look through, which also changes up seasonally. Always worth a look when you&#8217;re perusing the shops of Chapel Street. Mon &#8211; Sat, 11-5.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-thrift-cornwall-callywith-industrial-estate-bodmin"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/thrift_cornwall/?hl=en">Thrift Cornwall</a>, Callywith Industrial Estate, Bodmin</h2>



<p>A relative newby in Bodmin, Thrift is where to head if you want jeans, workwear, or old-school North Face, Ralph Lauren and so on. It is also unisex. Open 7 days a week.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-bolt-vintage-falmouth"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/bolt.vintage.ltd/?hl=en">Bolt Vintage</a>, Falmouth</h2>



<p>This streetwear shop on Arnewack Street is another place to head for jeans &#8211; they&#8217;ve an excellent curated real of 90s Levi&#8217;s, plus Carhart and other work wear, plus accessories. Unisex.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-be-your-sass-newquay"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/beyoursass/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Be Your Sass</a>, Newquay</h2>



<p>Love bold, bright, outrageous? After cool classics or funky festival gear? Muddy Award finalists in 2021, <em>Be Your Sass</em> advocate wearing what makes you happy and the shop is full of brightly coloured temptation! Owner Josie brings a hugely enthusiastic vibe and you will leave a lot more brightly than you arrived. Sadly no longer in St Columb Major but keep an eye on IG as Josie has a permanent pop up in Disco Beads in Newquay from time-to-time.</p>

<p>Open Tues &#8211; Sat on Lower Market Street, Three of Cups has a cheerful selection of seasonal clothes and is always worth a browse. </p>

<p>Head to Wesley Yard for hand picked funky, retro &amp; vintage clothing, accessories &amp; treasures. Open Thursday to Saturday 11-4.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-cornwall-hospice-care-retro-amp-vintage-shops-falmouth-launceston-and-st-ives"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/chcshops/?hl=en">Cornwall Hospice Care</a> Retro &amp; Vintage Shops, Falmouth, Launceston and St Ives</h2>



<p>We can&#8217;t possibly list out all of Cornwall&#8217;s charity shops, for there are plenty in every town and high street, many of them worth a rummage for a bargain, but Cornwall Hospice Care&#8217;s special vintage shops deserve a mention. The three branches, Falmouth, Launceston and St Ives are where all the donated vintage and retro items end up, so no Primark cast-offs here! </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-thursday-thrifts-various">Thursday Thrifts, various</h2>



<p>Thursday Thrifts make small batch fashion, but they also team up with Georgie from Sunday Studio to host &#8216;Styled Sunday&#8217; events which brings together second-hand sellers and food for fun one-off events. The last one was in <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DNU7VsbIQnY/?hl=en-gb&amp;img_index=1">August</a>, follow their various socials for details of the next.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-kilo-sales-around-cornwall">Kilo sales, around Cornwall</h2>



<p>Sharpen your elbows at a pop-up kilo sale. Rummage through rails and rails (and rails) of vintage/pre-loved clothes and accessories and pay by weight at the end, usually around £15-20/kilo. The organisers replenish the rails as the day goes on so you don’t lose out if you’re not one of the first in. They’re a great way to pick up well-known brands and unusual items from different eras and from around the world but they often don’t have changing rooms. Penzance, St Ives and Bar Silo in Fowey have all hosted them recently. Keep an eye on social!</p>

<p>Yes, that&#8217;s yours truly in a deadstock frock from Pink Lemons at the Muddy awards one year (deadstock is basically fashion leftovers, so fabric that was either left at the end after a run of clothes, or that didn&#8217;t make it into production, that is then saved from landfill and made into other, smaller runs). Pink Lemons also sells accessories and other sustainable fashion bits.</p>

<p>Respect due, The Real McCoy has been bringing cool to Exeter’s Fore Street since the 80s, way before vintage was on trend, and even more so now American retro is back with a vengeance, so it’s got a wide appeal for all ages. Great for worn-in leather gear, from Shearling fur-trimmed Aviators to biker jackets, waistcoats and Doc Martins to dainty 1940s frocks. (And super nostalgic as this is where I used to buy my student wear in the early 00s!)</p>
