<p>I offer colour analysis consultations helping people to find their seasonal colour palette of the shades that are most flattering for them alongside bringing a gorgeous sustainable French fashion brand to the UK exclusively with Tortue.uk.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>I offer 1:1 and group styling sessions at my Styling Space and pop-up clothes shopping at various venues across Cornwall.&nbsp; We often host fashion shows too giving a platform for up and coming models in Cornwall whilst raising funds for charities at the same time.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-is-the-most-common-clothes-related-problem-that-you-hear-nbsp-nbsp">What is the most common clothes related problem that you hear?&nbsp;&nbsp;</h2>



<p>People often tell me that their body has changed, sometimes along with their lifestyles too leaving them with a negative self image.&nbsp;They say that they don’t really know who they are or what to wear any more.&nbsp; Clients report having a wardrobe bursting at the seams but have “nothing to wear” that feels “right” for them, which can lead to feeling low.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-s-your-top-piece-of-advice-to-give-to-your-clients-nbsp">What’s your top piece of advice to give to your clients?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>Hard as it is, regularly strip back to your undies and take a good look in the mirror. Really looking at your body shape and taking notice of what you see (from all angles) is key to understanding how to dress well so that you like what you see in the mirror when you have your clothes on!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>All our bodies change over time. From teenager to adulthood, through maternity and menopause into later life, it is a constantly moving feast. Learning to live with what you have and adapting to the changes in a way that feels right for you is the aim of the game.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>Once you know what style of clothing suits your body shape, your colours, your style personality you can consciously choose clothing that fits your lifestyle.  You are then set up so can make small changes to adapt to any future changes your body has in store for you.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-is-the-one-fashion-mistake-many-women-in-their-20s-30s-40s-and-50s-make-nbsp">What is the one fashion mistake many women in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s make?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>Wearing black!&nbsp; People often resort to a black based wardrobe as they think its slimming, sexy or just an easy option.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>Whilst it is true that everyone can wear any colour that they want including black – it only works if you wear it in a certain way depending on your colour season.&nbsp; Only someone with a true Winter season colour palette can carry off a full on black head to toe outfit look and wear it well.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>Black can have a slimming effect especially if worn below the waist, however, it can also be extremely ageing when not part of your seasonal colour palette.  It can enhance fine lines, wrinkles and under eye darkness, often causing many people to look tired or even unwell as well as older than their years too.   By learning what your seasonal colour palette of colours contains, you will discover alternative colours that bring your complexion to life adding a vibrancy to your look and a healthy glow to your complexion and it doesn’t have to be a really bright colour to get this effect either.  </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-if-we-re-unhappy-with-a-part-of-our-bodies-is-there-anything-we-can-do-to-feel-more-confident-nbsp">If we’re unhappy with a part of our bodies is there anything we can do to feel more confident?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>Yes, there are plenty of things you can do and this is one of the key things covered in my book.&nbsp; The mistake most people make is to try and cover up those areas or to size up to disguise something with baggy clothing which actually draws more attention to the area and has the opposite effect to what you hope for.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>Dressing well is all about illusions and tricking the eye to see things differently to how they really are.&nbsp; Rather than trying to hide the bits you don’t like, aim to draw the eye away from the area instead.&nbsp; For example if trying to hide a tummy go for a statement necklace or opt for a top or jumper with detail at the neckline.&nbsp; This draws the eye away from the area to focus up towards your face instead.&nbsp;&nbsp; There are lots more tips and tricks in my book that also ask you to look differently at the pieces of clothing in your wardrobe and how by turning things around or even wearing upside down in some cases can be more flattering.&nbsp;</p>

<p>My book is called <em>Look Good &amp; Feel Fantastic!</em>&nbsp;and is for anyone who wants to learn the secrets to dressing well.&nbsp; It’s especially useful if you are struggling to know what to wear and feel like you have lost your style.&nbsp; The tips in my book can help you find your “wow factor” so that you feel confident in your lifestyle, helping you choose well to buy less and make your clothes last so that you avoid overspending buying clothes you never wear whether they be new or pre-loved.&nbsp; It can be ordered online via Amazon or Tortue.uk websites and available in-store at <a href="https://dandicornwall.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dandi</a> in Wadebridge.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-made-you-want-to-write-it-nbsp-and-how-has-it-been-received-nbsp">What made you want to write it?&nbsp; And how has it been received?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>My background has dipped in and out of the fashion industry in various ways over the last 40 years and there are many styling tips and tricks that I have picked up along the way.&nbsp; I often receive compliments and have been surprised that when I have shared styling tips that are second knowledge to me, often other people may not have known about them.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>Feeling positive about yourself when you look in the mirror is everything in my opinion and this book helps you to do that.&nbsp; It’s not about dressing for someone else’s approval (although you will most probably receive compliments too),&nbsp; it’s about being you, in your best way that makes you feel good and gives you the confidence to walk tall and take on whatever life throws your way.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>The book is relatively new but already I have received many positive messages that people are loving the tips, some of which have been described as “game-changers”!&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>I wanted a paperback version of the book in a size that can be slipped into your handbag so that if you are heading out for the day on the train or travelling for example, you can keep it handy and use it as a reference guide.&nbsp;I love it when people post a photo of the book “on location” to Instagram.&nbsp;So far it’s been read on planes, trains and at beaches, in France and Greece amongst other places too!&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-pre-loved-sounds-great-in-theory-but-some-people-are-sceptical-what-do-you-suggest-nbsp">Pre-loved sounds great in theory but some people are sceptical, what do you suggest?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>Environmental issues are a big deal for the global fashion industry and should be a concern for everyone in all aspects of life.&nbsp; Many manufacturers and retailers are “upping their game” moving away from the fast disposable fashion offerings of the past to more quality items that are built to last.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>I can understand that some people may feel uncomfortable wearing something that has been worn against someone else’s skin, so the key thing here is to check the label before you buy to ensure that any potential purchase is something that can be easily laundered or dry cleaned.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Remember that the pre-loved boutique shops of today have very high standards in terms of the items that they accept.&nbsp;It’s highly unlikely that they will stock any damaged items on their rails. Of course, when shopping in person you have an opportunity to feel the quality of fabrics, check the stitching on any seams and usually try before you buy.</p>



<p>The great thing about buying pre-loved is that it can be a way of purchasing a better quality of clothing or a designer label that otherwise may have been out of reach from your budget. Buying design classics that are really well cut or tailored can add another dimension to your wardrobe and you are investing in pieces that will last the test of time for many years to come if you choose well.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>If you really can’t get past wearing pre-loved clothing next to your skin, then start by looking at accessories such as handbags or belts or outerwear such as tailored coats.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-tips-do-you-have-for-getting-started-with-pre-loved-shopping">What tips do you have for getting started with pre-loved shopping?</h2>



<p>Be strategic and shop for what you actually need, thinking about what works with items you already have in your wardrobe.&nbsp; Look for items that fit, that flatter your body shape and complement your seasonal colour palette as well as your lifestyle.&nbsp; Ideally try the item on before you purchase and consider how you could wear it in three different ways with other pieces from your existing wardrobe.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Only buy it if it meets these requirements and makes you feel great when you look in the mirror.&nbsp; Your wardrobe needs to work hard for you and you need to be 100% sure that the item does this – if you have any doubts then I would suggest not to buy it, think about it overnight and if it is still on your mind then go back to the shop.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>The items in your wardrobe should suit your day to day lifestyle too regardless of where you purchase them – no point having five “black tie do” outfits in your wardrobe if you don’t regularly go to these kind of events.&nbsp; You would be better off investing more in the things you wear regularly on a daily basis instead.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-should-i-go-about-deciding-on-colour">How should I go about deciding on colour?</h2>



<p>If you are not sure about the colour of the item, hold it next to your face and take a selfie with your phone.&nbsp; When you look at the photograph consider if the colour enhances your complexion or does it have the opposite effect?&nbsp; If you are still not sure, then it is probably the wrong shade for you to wear.&nbsp; If it is a colour that is one of your favourites that doesn’t look “right” against your skin, wear it as an accessory instead.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-are-your-favourite-pre-loved-fashion-shops-in-cornwall-nbsp">What are your favourite <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/lifestyle/fashion-lifestyle/shop-vintage-fashion-cornwall/">pre-loved fashion shops</a> in Cornwall?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>Dandi in Wadebridge is fantastic.&nbsp; I rarely leave without a purchase and the owners Linzi and Bel are so friendly too.&nbsp; They stock some really good brands and often have pre-loved premium designer labels/accessories too!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>I also like to search in charity shops wherever I go as they are fantastic for finding pieces of pre-loved costume jewellery and sometimes unusual belts that can really finish off an outfit for low cost.&nbsp; If you have an event to go to where you don’t know anyone, finding a jewellery item like a statement necklace can be a fantastic ice breaker to opening up conversations putting you at ease.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-s-your-favourite-cornish-view-or-beach">What’s your favourite Cornish view or beach?</h2>



<p>It is so hard to pick just one as there are so many beautiful spots!&nbsp; For sea swimming it has to be Mother Iveys Bay.&nbsp; I love the walk across the fields to get there, the view from the coastpath is of azure water giving tropical beach vibes whatever the weather and if you are lucky you may see the Padstow Lifeboat launching on exercise too!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>For dog walks, its Hawkers Cove near Padstow.&nbsp; Often a bit blustery but when the tide is out the beach and estuary views across to Rock and Daymer Bay are stunning.&nbsp;</p>



<p>For sunset watching it has to be Watergate Bay.&nbsp; My phone is full of beautiful sunset pictures here from over the years.&nbsp; No two sunsets are ever the same!&nbsp;</p>



<p>My favourite Cornish view is of the Isles of Scilly from the sky especially at low tide – you could be forgiven for thinking that you were flying over the British Virgin Islands or another tropical island location.&nbsp; Simply stunning!&nbsp;</p>
