The Orangery, Duchy of Cornwall Nursery, Lostwithiel
Set in quite possibly the most beautiful plant nursery in Cornwall, the Mediterranean inspired Orangery is at the heart of the nursery, serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, with views out towards Restormel Castle.
Take a seat in this elegant new restaurant space in the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery, opened by the Prince of Wales himself in July 2023. Blurring the boundaries between the inside and outside, inspired by the Mediterranean and the traditional garden room, but with a modern twist.
The menus take their influence from the Nursery, local farms, the Cornish coastline, and the turn of each season. Available now to book for breakfast and lunch online, by telephone or in person.
Their signature Afternoon tea is served every day in The Orangery from 2.30pm and must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. If you are booking an Afternoon Tea with a Duchy of Cornwall Nursery gift voucher, please call us on: 01208 872668 to make a reservation.
The nursery is situated in the heart of The Duchy, near to Restormel Castle at Lostwithiel, with views out towards the castle. Part of the Duchy Estate, the nursery started life as a slate quarry before selling plants to the public in the mid 1970s before growing to become one of the largest plant nurseries in the south-west.
The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate established by Edward III in 1337 to provide independence to his son and heir, Prince Edward. A charter ruled that each future Duke of Cornwall would be the eldest surviving son of the Monarch and heir to the throne – before he ascended the throne, the previous Duke of Cornwall, HRH The Prince of Wales was the longest standing holder of the title, with William, the current Prince of Wales now at the helm.
