Cheers! It’s the Muddy Awards drinks!

You did it, they did it, we all did it! We all voted for our favourite local businesses in Cornwall and after a fierce competition, it was time to celebrate. Pop the cork and cue the drinks!

Our 2021 Muddy Stilettos Cornwall Awards winners gathered together for an evening of celebration at The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery last week. An absolutely gorgeous venue, we celebrated in the Bee Garden, a beautiful part of the nursery planted up to attract bees and make the most of the countryside views across to Restormel Castle.

Frankly, the whole thing was a blast from beginning to end. Getting to meet inspirational, creative people – after all finding brilliant local businesses is right at the heart of Muddy and we really do love it.

Running a business requires great effort and to make it a successful one that brightens up our daily lives, adding to our community, is no mean feat (particularly after the last 18 months). So it’s an honour to be able to celebrate this on behalf of hard-working business owners across Cornwall.

Rachel (editor) and Laura (commercial manager) – Muddy Cornwall

Would you like a sneak peek? Of course you do!

We drank a pet-nat (sparkling wine) made by a female winemaker, served and chosen by Wild Wine Woman Debbie who runs Wild Wine School.

We served this alongside refreshing, Cornish grown, sparkling iced tea from R-Chi Tea, and delicious canapés from the chef at The Duchy Nursery.

And then thanks to the support from our 2021 awards sponsor Beverley of Live Beside The Sea, we handed out the certificates!

I just want to take the opportunity once more to say a massive CONGRATS to everyone who found themselves nominated, a finalist and eventually a winner. It really hit home to me how much talent, character and good-feeling there is here in Cornwall.

(Like the sound of it? We’ve one to give away to a reader here!)

But there would be no party with no awards, and no awards with no readers to vote for their most loved indie businesses, so it’s a big heartfelt THANK YOU from me to you for taking the time to give your local favourites a pat on the back and showing your support for the Muddies.

And thank you to our wonderful photographer Rebecca Rees of Meet the Maker who took these beautiful photos. She works with small businesses capturing the essence of the person behind the brand, and alongside all her other work also runs mini portrait sessions which are just perfect if you need a couple of lovely photos of you for your brand or business website or social media.

And last of all, thank you to the team from the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery – Claire, Carl, Naomi and the rest of the team, who pulled out all the stops to put on a brilliant event. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.
