<p>We all know the classic Dickens Christmas tale, but did you ever wonder what happened after the ghosts scarpered? This comic twist on A Christmas Carol is written and performed by Lecoq trained clown Ethel Darling, delivered in a way that’s never been done before. Ethel is a trained clown, an acrobat, a director, and theatrical teacher at the Minack Theatre, and this brand-new show is her latest work, directed by Daniel Richards, co-founder of Near-Ta Theatre. For the Tiny Tims and elder Ebeneezers, the young and young and heart. Hah! Bumhug is a festive comedy suitable for all ages.</p>

<p>Squashbox Theatre returns to Endelienta Arts for their festive family show. Join Craig as he goes on a quest to find The Twelve Sprouts of Christmas. Expect an over-stuffed stocking crammed with puppets, songs and comedy, and overflowing with crazy characters, silly slapstick, tall tales and fantastic facts. </p>

<p>Charlie and Toby are feeling low, and why wouldn’t they? It’s Christmas Day and they’re serving time at His Majesty’s pleasure. But why shouldn’t they be having a Merry Christmas in spite of their incarceration? What’s stopping them from creating Christmas around them? Absolutely nothing! And so they set off on their festival of carols, Claus, Christ and custody!</p>

<p>A magical puppet and live action production of Antonia Barber’s classic children’s story, The Mousehole Cat, performed in the heart of Mousehole alongside the village’s famous Christmas light display. Based on a well-known Cornish legend this uniquely heart-warming story of the friendship between a fearless fisherman and his devoted cat will warm your cockles… almost as much as an ‘efty portion of stargazy pie! This show lasts for approximately one hour. </p>

Marvel at the brilliance of Tchaikovsky’s score, as Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker fight the Mouse King and visit the Sugar Plum Fairy in the glittering Kingdom of Sweets. Peter Wright’s much-loved production for The Royal Ballet, with gorgeous period designs by Julia Trevelyan Oman, keeps true to the spirit of this festive ballet classic, combining the thrill of the fairy tale with spectacular dancing. Danced live by the Royal Ballet in 2023, and screened in a cinema near you across Cornwall. </p>

<p>Cornish favourite entertainer and singer Johnny Cowling will once again be coming to the Lane Theatre with his usual mix of fun and a bit of music. Early booking is recommended as this show is usually a sell-out.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-wadebridge-choral-society-christmas-carols-egloshayle-church-wadebridge-sat-21-dec"><a href="https://www.wadebridgechoral.org.uk/concerts-events/">Wadebridge Choral Society Christmas Carols</a>, Egloshayle Church, Wadebridge, Sat 21 Dec</h2>



<p>The choir will be singing a festive mix of their favourite anthems and hymns, including some Cornish carols, and some for audience participation. Look out for the lovely Christmas link between Cornwall and Cambridge. Musical director Nicholas Danks is also Director of Music at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The famous King’s ‘Nine Lessons and Carols’ was originated by the Bishop of Truro in 1880, then expropriated by the Dean of King’s College for their carol service. That Christmas Eve service is now broadcast around the world and frequently includes the Cornish carol, the Sans Day Carol. The choir will be performing the traditional carol, named after the Cornish village of St Day, on the 21st December, as well as a generous splash of festive creativity from both Nick and Accompanist, Steve Tyrrell.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Montol is Cornwall’s traditional festival of midwinter on 21 Dec (the Winter Solstice) in Penzance. Dancers in full disguise, called Guisers, parade the streets, accompanied by music from peccadillos, drumming and burning torches.</p>

<p>The Great Tree for Camelot is late arriving, and the King is worried &#8211; sending Sir Tristan to investigate.  Armed with some extra festive gadgets from Merlin, Sir Tristan sets out into the wild dark forests to discover just what is going on.</p>



<p>A wondrous storytelling show which will take you on a journey with knights, wizards, princess, yule logs, Christmas trees and more!  Bought to you by Swashbuckling Cornwall.  </p>



<p>This show runs for approximately 45 mins followed by a chance to take a closer look at some arms and armour. Age 6+.</p>

<p>The ‘Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols’ services are a much loved and historic part of Christmas celebrations in Cornwall. These services are usually filled to capacity so arrive early to avoid disappointment. The first service will be sung by the choir  and the girl choristers, the second, with its boy choristers &#8211; and live streamed on their YouTube channel if you can&#8217;t attend in person.</p>
