It&#8217;s a bumper month for new restaurants and hotels in Cornwall! Back in 2019, Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers made waves in Cornwall with his Story by the Sea pop-up at Carbis Bay Estate. Now he’s returned with <a href="https://restaurantmor.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MOR</a> by Tom Sellers, a permanent restaurant opened this week in the hotel’s sea-view dining room, where the focus is firmly on exceptional Cornish produce and panoramic coastal views. Named after the Cornish word for sea, the MOR kitchen will be run by Executive Chef Tom Anglesea, alongside Corrin Harrison (formerly of Ynyshir and Gwen, Wales). Opening this weekend, perched above the curve of Porthmeor Beach at West, <a href="https://www.kilnsauna.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kiln Sauna Pavilion</a> overlooks the Atlantic with uninterrupted views from Man’s Head to The Island. The new pavilion is conceived as both sanctuary and social gathering place, offering communal, silent and guided sauna experiences throughout the year, with sessions available to book online. Open sunrise until sunset (the magic hour in St Ives) are 2 x 12-seater saunas, with one operating as a silent or soundscape sauna and 5 cold plunge baths at different temperatures, plus cold showers. Wheelchair accessible throughout the site, with the exception of the cold plunge baths, access is £12 for 45 minutes social sessions, £100 for a private sauna for up to 11 and £320 for full hire of the sauna pavilion for up to 22 people. Kiln, who won Muddy&#8217;s Best Wellbeing Specialist in Cornwall in 2025, is the brainchild of Falmouth locals Kathryn Tyler and Angus Thatcher, and this enveloping experience is their third site. It draws inspiration from sauna traditions around the world, with the name ‘Kiln’ a creative homage to Cornwall’s extensive lime burning heritage in the 18th and 19th centuries.



<a href="https://enodoc-hotel.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">St Enodoc</a> by Paul Ainsworth officially opens to the public on 27 July. Nestled among the sand dunes of North Cornwall and overlooking the Camel Estuary, St Enodoc marks an exciting new chapter for Paul and Emma. Following an extensive renovation, the landmark property has been thoughtfully reimagined as a contemporary Cornish retreat, combining its rich heritage with the warm hospitality for which the Ainsworth Collection is known. Two new eateries include the Estuary Grill by Paul Ainsworth, which will showcase the very best of Cornwall’s land and sea &#8211; think blackboard whole fish specials and award-winning meat from Phillip Warren, alongside dishes inspired by Paul’s Seychellois heritage. During March &#8211; October, the Flour Garden Pizzeria &amp; Ice Cream, is an alfresco dining spot serving hand-stretched Neapolitan-style pizzas, hearty salads and soft serve, set within the newly landscaped gardens. House of Hackney has thrown open the doors of <a href="https://www.houseofhackney.com/pages/castle-of-trematon?" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Trematon Castle</a> near Saltash, with guests now able to book stays at the 11th-century estate restored by founders Frieda Gormley and Javvy M Royle. The nine-bedroom Georgian house, set within the castle walls, doubles as a showcase for the interiors brand&#8217;s richly layered style.&nbsp;



Newquay’s former Walkabout is getting a very Cornish makeover as Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm announces Rattler Beach House, the first dedicated home for its much-loved Rattler brand. The seafront venue will bring Rattler, seasonal food, live sport, music and beachside vibes to The Crescent this summer, although no immediate changes are expected in July. There is a new &#8216;Tipsy Tea&#8217; Afternoon Tea offering from&nbsp;<a href="https://fistralbeachhotel.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fistral Beach Hotel</a>&nbsp;in Newquay &#8211; served throughout Afternoon Tea Week (10-16th Aug). Book afternoon tea and receive Fistral T&#8217;Clock cocktail on the house (worth £14 per person), adding a refreshing twist to one of Britain&#8217;s best-loved traditions. Served in the Bay Bar overlooking the golden sands of Fistral Beach, the hotel&#8217;s&nbsp;Tipsy Afternoon Tea&nbsp;pairs sweeping Atlantic views with a tempting selection of sweet and savoury favourites.



Wadebridge wine bar and restaurant <a href="https://www.plonkd.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Plonk’d</a> has launched a brand-new Saturday brunch menu, bringing a taste of Northern Spain to North Cornwall. Expect relaxed weekend dining with bold, flavour-packed plates including Iberico steak and eggs, huevos rotos, Spanish-style French toast and the classic jamón, Manchego and pan con tomate, alongside great coffee, fresh juices, low-intervention wines and even free-flowing Cava.



Counter Culture, Newquay (12), Edie&#8217;s, St Austell (22) North Street Kitchen, Fowey (28), Four Boys, Rock, (69), Outlaw’s Bistro, Port Isaac (79) and The Rocket Store, Boscastle (94) have just been named among The Good Food Guide’s 100 Best Local Restaurants 2026 – proof (as if we needed it) that we’re seriously spoilt when it comes to eating out.

An intriguing street-art stencil has appeared on the wall of the Palais de Danse in St Ives (above). The building, which served as Barbara Hepworth&#8217;s second studio and workshop from 1961 until her death in 1975, is being renovated by Tate as a new public space for exhibitions, creative activity and community engagement. The mysterious work has not yet been claimed but sources think it may be the work of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/stewystencils?" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stewy</a>, an &#8220;anonymous British street artist best known for his life-size, hand-cut stencils of cultural icons, local legends, and indigenous wildlife&#8221;. 



Update &#8211; it would appear Muddy sources are on to something as another ten images have apparently been left around St Ives. Muddy Award winning Penwith Gallery found one in their Hepworth Room today and are making plans to display it permanently. Let us know if you hear of the whereabouts of the others, and watch this space for further intel as we get it!

One of Cornwall’s most intriguing historic houses is set for a new future. Nancealverne, a Grade II* listed Georgian estate near Penzance, has been gifted to Cornwall Heritage Trust after more than 250 years in the care of the Armstrong family. With over 20 acres of parkland, formal gardens and a lake, the charity is now exploring how this remarkable hidden gem can be shared with the public — and is asking the community to help shape what comes next.

It might be just over the border, but still, it&#8217;s worth celebrating.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.theboxplymouth.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Box</a>&nbsp;in Plymouth has scooped the coveted Art Fund Museum of the Year 2026 title, along with a whopping £120,000 prize. Judges described it as a ‘true jewel in the crown of the South West’ after a record-breaking year. If it’s been a while since you wandered through its galleries, this is your reminder.
