<p>Over in Fowey, <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/life/people/chef-charlie-walters-narla-fowey-cornwall/">Charlie Walter</a>&#8216;s new place,<em>&nbsp;<a href="https://www.narlarestaurant.co.uk/">Narla</a></em>, is opening at 19 Fore Street (where Appleton’s used to be) from 20 March. As soon as we&#8217;ve been over, we&#8217;ll bring you the full review of Narla too!</p>

<p>Not so much just opened, as one of the longest-standing champions of Cornish produce and cooking, <a href="https://rickstein.com/restaurants/the-seafood-restaurant/">The Seafood Restaurant</a> in Padstow has been celebrating 50 years of operations in 2025. Last month the team at Rick’s OG restaurant delved into the archives and unearthed the original menu from the year that The Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors. Featuring some of the classic dishes that started it all, at the 1975 prices tickets were snapped up, with half a million people trying to score a table. </p>



<p><a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/people/muddy-interviews-jack-stein-chef-cornwall/">Jack Stein</a>, executive head chef of Rick Stein Group, was interviewed this week by Tristan Stephenson, <a href="https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/jay--tris">The Curious Bartender</a>, for his podcast. Tristan, who also lives and works in Cornwall, interviews the most influential and interesting people in the world of food and drink, and his conversation with Jack is well worth a listen. Jack tells among other things the story of his parents opening the restaurant, and its time as a nightclub Purple Tiger, with Rick going to catering college in Cornwall in order to get a better licence for serving drinks to the locals including fishermen.</p>

<p>It’s Mother’s Day at PizzaExpress, and those who do it all, deserve it all. Treat Mum to two courses and a Prosecco for £26, or make it three courses for £30 on its fab Mother’s Day Menu. The menu is available on Sat 29 – Sun 30 March and includes tasty PizzaExpress fare like its Caprese Salad and Classic American pizza, with a Chocolate Brownie served with smooth vanilla gelato for pudding. Extra brownie points for whoever booked PizzaExpress for Mother’s Day.</p>

<p><a href="https://cornwallmuseum.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery</a>, which reopened on 1&nbsp;March after completing a major phase in its ongoing transformation has been shortlisted for the 2025 Museums + Heritage Awards. This particular award is for the Mineral Gallery, above, which re-opened last November, but the new nature gallery and heart of Cornwall galleries, plus exhibitions of portraits in celebration of St Petroc&#8217;s, Cornwall&#8217;s homeless charity, and <em>Biodiversity, </em>Kurt Jackson&#8217;s curation, are both excellent views in the newly reformatted art gallery on the upper floor.</p>

<p>The second phase of restoration works at the Grade II Listed Tolgus Mill are well underway, with support from<a href="https://www.cornwall-gold.com/"> Cornwall Gold</a>’s newly launched ‘Friends of Tolgus’ volunteer scheme. As the last original tin stream works in Europe, Tolgus Mill is a vital piece of Cornish heritage which Cornwall Gold are committed to preserve for future generations. </p>

<p>The Great Coast-to-Coast Charity Dinner, which took place at the Cornwall Hotel Collection’s The Alverton in the heart of Truro on Thursday evening raised a spectacular £16,000 for industry charity Hospitality Action.</p>



<p>The inaugural event saw more than a dozen leading chefs from all corners of Cornwall come together to cook a gastronomic, five-course dinner celebrating some of the county’s finest ingredients and products for 120 guests.</p>

Commissioned and co-designed by Cornwall National Landscape team and crafted by renowned Cornish metal sculptors Thrussells, Drolla, which takes its name from the Cornish word for “folk tale” seamlessly blends intricate artistry with functional design. Its metalwork teams with symbols of Cornwall’s rich cultural tapestry: from mythical creatures and ancient legends to indigenous flora and fauna. Each flourish and curve is a gentle prompt to look a little deeper, listen a little more closely and appreciate the stories that live in the land.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-festival-updates">FESTIVAL UPDATES</h2>



<p><a href="https://www.kernowforniafestival.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kernowfornia&nbsp;Festival</a>&nbsp;is a new zero-waste festival in September in Looe, where the three headliners are Marillion, Nick Mulvey and Jordan Rakei, with acts such as Newton Fawlkner, Sunset Sons and Haunt the Woods also performing.</p>



<p>Up at Bude, The Wyldes have announced a new intimate series of music events called <a href="https://www.thewyldescornwall.com/whats-on">The ReWylding</a> &#8211; smaller events, with fewer tickets, getting back to their original roots. No names or dates yet, but watch this space.</p>



<p>In Falmouth, The Wanderfal Festival is back, featuring a mix of local and international talent, on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12.</p>
