Cornwall is playing host to the Executive Chef of Dinings SW3 in Chelsea, Masaki Sugiski (above left) for series of one off events as the Japanese restaurant comes to Cornwall. Dinings SW3 by The Sea will see Masaki and team take residence first at <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="The Idle Rocks (opens in a new tab)" href="http://www.idlerocks.com" target="_blank">The Idle Rocks</a>&nbsp;hotel in St Mawes (7 July, above right) and then at&nbsp;Tavola in Porthscatho (8 &amp; 9 July).

It&#8217;s all go in Penzance this month for new openings! Creator and purveyors of Muddy&#8217;s favourite striped hamman towels, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Ebb &amp; Flow (opens in a new tab)" href="https://ebbflowcornwall.co.uk/" target="_blank">Ebb &amp; Flow</a>, have opened a new shop on Chapel Street. Meanwhile, over on Causeway Head, Joel Friskney-Adams has created a gorgeous little coffee place out of a historic victorian toll booth- <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="The Roundhouse (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.instagram.com/roundhouse_pz/" target="_blank">The Roundhouse</a>. Joel previously worked at Lovetts in Newlyn and is one third of seasonal restaurant pop-up <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Grale Frit (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.instagram.com/gralefritrestaurant/" target="_blank">Grale Frit</a> (alongside brother Ethan &#8211; head chef at Fitzroy in Fowey &#8211; and Ethan&#8217;s wife, Hazel) so we expect great things in terms of taste!

Over in Falmouth, we <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="mentioned last month (opens in a new tab)" href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/latest-news/cornwall-openings-local-news/" target="_blank">mentioned last month</a> that chef Hylton Espey, previously of the Merchants Manor hotel, is opening a new place called <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://culturerestaurant.co.uk/" target="_blank">Culture Restaurant</a> alongside his wife, Petronella Espey (below). Celebrating local produce and hyper-seasonal cooking with a menu of nature inspired cuisine it opens on 9 July and bookings can be made in advance.

It might show your age (sorry) but Gary Barlow fans are in for a treat when he heads to Truro (above) and the Hall for Cornwall stage at the end of September with his solo show, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="A Different Stage (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.hallforcornwall.co.uk/playhouse-tickets-shows/gary-barlow--a-different-stage/about-the-show" target="_blank">A Different Stage</a>. Although he might be well known to the over 40s for his role as a <s>heart-throb</s> singer in boy band Take That, in more recent years Gary has turned his attention to the world of theatre, composing the score for the hugely successful production of ‘Finding Neverland’; working alongside Tim Firth on&nbsp; ‘Calendar Girls The Musical’; and collaborating with Tim and his Take That bandmates on ‘The Band’, a record-breaking stage musical currently being adapted into a feature film.

Following her successful residency last summer at Watergate Bay, Rock-based artist <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Nina Brooke (opens in a new tab)" href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/arts-culture/muddy-meets-artist-nina-brooke/" target="_blank">Nina Brooke</a> is heading for a two-week residency at Jamaica Inn. No, not that one on Bodmin Moor, this one is in the more-reliably sunny Caribbean&#8230; Following her residency, Nina’s collection will be available to purchase at her gallery Joy Editions in Bude.

Something for the youngsters &#8211; any Malory Towers fans will be pleased to know that not only is series three being filmed &#8211; trailer below, I&#8217;m told that the <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="tidal pool (opens in a new tab)" href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/cornwall-tide-pools-lidos/" target="_blank">tidal pool</a> at Trevone (above) that featured in series 1 is being used for filming again, tomorrow, 30 June. The pool is closed but not the coast path or beach.
