<p>It&#8217;s a big congratulations to the Tartan Fox pub in Summercourt, who have been rewarded with recognition from the Michelin Guide &#8211; the new listing is their most recent update for Cornwall. The pub, the newest of Chef Adam Handling MBE&#8217;s ventures <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/latest-news/read-all-about-it-its-your-latest-superflashy-newsflash-for-cornwall/">opened in June near Newquay</a>, when the restaurant group <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/latest-news/superflashy-newsflash-cornwall-foodie-news-may-2024/">transformed the old Foxes Revenge</a>, updating the pub’s interiors to feature earthy tones and natural materials including stone and wood, taking inspiration from the 400-year-old Grade II listed building’s heritage, which sits on 30 acres of land.</p>

<p>Not one but two new restaurants for Truro. Muddy fave, and finalist in not just the Muddy Awards but the National Burger Awards too, Herd is opening a new branch later this year &#8211; watch this space for more details.</p>



<p>Also coming to Truro and opening on 12 November is <a href="https://www.pettyfours.co.uk/">Petty Fours</a> on Old Bridge Street, a fine dining concert from Alfred Petty, celebrating Cornwall&#8217;s culinary environment &#8211; a set lunch menu, and tasting menu in the evenings. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-sad-goodbyes">SAD GOODBYES</h2>

<p>It&#8217;s a sad farewell to Agatha &amp; Jack at Mardy Bakery who&#8217;ve announced that they are closing their French inspired pink bakery in Fowey. With eccentric opening hours the chase to lay hands on their excellent patisserie meant the goods tasted even sweeter, and they will be missed. </p>



<p>Speaking of bakeries, another Muddy favourite is changing hands. Kate and Charlie, the team behind Bread &amp; Butter in Truro have announced that they&#8217;ve found a new buyer for the business.</p>



<p>We also can&#8217;t mention goodbyes without the news that <a href="https://www.flambards.co.uk/">Flambards</a> has closed &#8211; a proper Cornish institution of an amusement park and more that has been operating near Helston since the last 1970s, but 2024 marks the end of operations with the venue closing with immediate effect. The team have announced that the Halloween Ball 2024 will be the last event to be held on 9 November, a proper Cornish rite of passage that is the <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/whats-on-halloween-cornwall-for-adults/">themed masked ball</a>/rave. </p>



<p>Flambards is the second Cornish venue to close in quick succession, with <a href="https://www.facebook.com/dairylandfarmpark">Dairyland Farm Park</a> near Newquay also finally closing their doors this week after announcing their closure last month. The animals will all be re-homed, but the owners have suggested that they have not sold the land and may be re-opening as a farm shop and café in the future.</p>

<p>Simon Mahon has this week joined Watergate Bay Hotel, Another Place, SeaSpace and Beach Retreats as Chief Operating Officer. And speaking of <a href="https://sea.space/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">SeaSpace</a>, it is Cornwall’s first aparthotel,&nbsp;and is now open. Just above Porth beach, on the edge of Newquay, the new oceanside concept is a first of its kind – offering a new way to stay and play by the sea. Designed for coastal-loving travellers and like-minded&nbsp;locals, this is a place to gather.&nbsp;There are 56 self-catered spaces (which sleep 2-6, all dog-friendly), and a host of activities and facilities on offer, including a new five-court padel tennis club – plus a café, deli, gym, swimming pools, fitness classes, water sports, children’s play areas and forest school workshops, plus a full programme of arts, music and foodie events to bring the community together. </p>



<p><a href="https://www.heligan.com/">The Lost Gardens of Heligan</a> has become the first visitor garden in England to achieve B Corp certification.</p>



<p>A public call out has been raised, asking for people to nominate 50 ‘Women of Cornwall’, past and present,&nbsp;myth or reality,&nbsp;to be celebrated in a major new art installation by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.artcentrepenryn.org/womenofcornwall" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Art Centre Penryn</a>, the major new contemporary art centre opening in Cornwall. The public have until 30 November 2024 to suggest a woman at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.artcentrepenryn.org/womenofcornwall" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">https://www.artcentrepenryn.org/womenofcornwall</a></p>



<p>Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm has been recognised as one of the 50 most exciting businesses in the South West.</p>



<p>The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.royalcornwallmuseum.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Royal Cornwall Museum</a>&nbsp;in Truro is going on tour for two months this winter, as the building itself closes for work to take place as part of a major transformation project. Look out for the Education Library Service Bus, delivering their Ancient Egypt and Victorian Toys workshops in eight libraries, aiming to reach more schoolchildren.</p>
