Four days of partying you say? That calls for our mega-guide to Her Madge’s remarkable anniversary. There’s something for everyone in our curated guide. Read on and make it a royally memorable weekend.

From delicate finger sandwiches and savoury delights to classic cakes and perfectly portioned morsels, The Greenbank’s Jubilee afternoon tea is the ultimate way to enjoy the bank holiday. Right Royal Train Rides, Bodmin & General Railway, 2 – 5 June

Passengers will receive a bottle of Prosecco and a box of chocolates – running twice a day (10.30 and 1.30, the train heads up and down both branch lines in a two hour round trip). Or, if you fancy a more substantial eat while you enjoy the Cornish countryside, treat yourself to a Platinum Afternoon Tea or Right Royal Brunch.

A Night by the Prom, Jubilee Pool, Penzance, 7pm

The evening will start with live music from Jubilee Strings a collection of string players from Penzance Orchestra, a local group who have put together some classic, well known music. Later we are excited to host a good old Cornish sing song from shanty singers Bryher Boys. The evening will all lead up to the lighting of the beacon at the deep end of the pool to commemorate the Queens years in the commonwealth.

Speaking of beacons, look out for beacons being lit across the Duchy – there is a long history of communities lighting beacons to mark coronations and jubilees. The official lighting up time is 9.15-9.45pm local time and alongside the actual beacons, like Chapel Carn Brea (above), almost all villages and towns will be lighting bonfires – check out your local Facebook page for your nearest. A principal beacon will be lit at Buckingham Palace and there will be BBC coverage if you don’t fancy finding a torch and wellies to attend your own.

Friday is our bonus bank holiday and for avid Royal watchers (or those that want to get a glimpse of Harry and Meghan) will have eyes on the BBC at 11.10am for the live stream of the service of thanksgiving from St Paul’s Cathedral.

The rest of us will find community events up and down the Duchy in parks and village halls, gardens and beaches. We’ll be here until the next century listing them all out so check your local Facebook group for more info. Also look out for Falmouths Jubilee Parade at 12.30pm,

The Headland has a Jubilee themed afternoon tea available every day until the end of June, with all the bits you’d expect such as coronation chicken sandwiches, strawberry trifle, raspberry macaron and Jubilee shortbread biscuit, but the star of the show is The Queen’s chocolate biscuit cake, described by royal chef and former personal chef to The Queen, Darren McGrady, as Her Majesty’s “favourite cake by far”. For those fancying a tipple to toast her 70-year reign, there is also a delicious selection of cocktails. The Platinum Martini mixes HM-appointed gin, Lillet 1872 and edible platinum, whilst the Duketh Kernow combines London style gin, orgeat, sherbet and Earl Grey. On 4 June family and friends are invited to dine on large communal tables whilst watching The Queen’s Platinum Party live from London.

Round the Mount Flotilla, 6pm

Weather permitting, a flotilla of around 60 wind, oar or paddle powered craft will be circumnavigating St Michaels Mount at Marazion, which is also open for a charity garden day from 1.15pm.

Saturday evening sees the BBC Platinum Party at the Palace concert at 8pm, live streamed on the BBC and also in village halls across the Duchy.

The unique Platinum Party stage design consists of three stages, linked by walkways, which create a unique 360 experience in front of Buckingham Palace and The Queen Victoria Memorial. Linking the stages together into one overall design are 70 columns representing the unprecedented 70 years of Her Majesty The Queen’s reign. Each column signifies the importance of each year Queen Elizabeth has been on the throne. During the concert, they can each light up until all 70 animate in a full formation of lights and beams.

One of the UK’s biggest celebratory events for decades kicks off on Sunday – the Platinum Jubilee Pageant will take to the streets of London, and even features a “specially-written fairy story There Once Is A Queen” by author Sir Michael Morpurgo (not actually Cornish but so many of his stories are set here he is much loved here). Again, screened live on the Beeb at 1pm.

The Big Jubilee Lunch at Eden

More locally, join in with The Big Jubilee Lunch. First started by the Eden Project and made possible by The National Lottery Community Fund, this idea has been bringing people together across the country on the first weekend in June each year since 2009.

Eden itself will be hosting one of the largest. Among the entertainment on offer on Sunday will be a samba band, circus entertainer, bubble performers and a 30-piece brass band. In addition, live music will add to the captivating ambience of the Mediterranean Biome.

Visitors are encouraged to take part in The Big Jubilee Lunch by bringing their own food and enjoying a picnic with their family, friends and community. They can either pull up a chair at a long table in the centre of the Arena or pick a spot on one of the provided picnic blankets.

Alternatively, there are also a limited number of special Jubilee Picnic Boxes available for pre-order now via the Eden Project website. Visitors can choose from either a standard of plant-based box. Both options are made for two people to share and cost £32.50.

Eden isn’t the only lunch taking place of course, with thousands of individual and community events organised – across the Duchy are countless Big Jubilee Lunches, picnics and street parties – again check out your local Facebook pages for details.

Platinum Jubilee Beacon Trail, Newquay

To take part in the trail is very simple, players do not need to download an app or even register beforehand. They must simply go online to find the trail map and visit the venues in their location, in any order. When they visit a venue, they simply find the window vinyl and scan its unique QR code. A digital stamp will automatically pop up on their phone’s browser and tell them about that decade in The Queen’s reign. Players can then choose to see the character who is on a day out to Newquay from Buckingham Palace! The character will appear life-sized in the player’s environment, leading to perfect selfie opportunities. Once players have collected all seven of the digital stamps, they will be given information about where and when their local beacon will be lit and encouraged to share this with their friends and family.
