Finally a World Day of something I can really get on board with. Yes folks, 10 June sees &#8216;World Gin Day&#8217; and to celebrate, I thought I&#8217;d tell you all about a few of the special gins crafted right here in Cornwall. Grab a glass and some Jolly&#8217;s or Navas tonic and step right this way&#8230;

Trevethan Cornish Dry Gin finally achieved the ultimate accolade, a ‘Gold Outstanding’ medal awarded by the IWSC.&nbsp;Only five London Dry Gins in the world received this award, a remarkable achievement that really sets Trevethan Gin apart.



Flavour:&nbsp;Bold, smooth classic gin, made for 1920s speakeasy bars in London. Bold juniper hits first becoming lighter with hints of pine and citrus, vanilla and gorse.



What else:&nbsp;Trevethan also make a navy strength &#8216;chauffeur&#8217;s&#8217; gin (named after Norman who invented it, rather than a suggestion for drink driving), a honey oak gin and a grapefruit and lychee gin.



Best served: Gin last! Add ice to a glass and pour in tonic, followed by half again of Trevethan Cornish Gin, and stir. Always add the gin last to cool it more slowly and achieve the best flavour! Garnish with fresh orange peel and rosemary.

A unique botanical yet classic dry gin distilled in small batches from Duchy grown potatoes by near-by neighbours, <a href="https://www.colwithfarmdistillery.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Colwith Farm Distillery</a>, an award-winning artisan maker of vodka and gin.



Flavour: Infused with nursery honey and hand picked lavender, roses, bay and rosemary, so the very essence of the nursery is captured – makes for an elegant and memorable gin.



What else? A delicate pencil and watercolour, influenced by Pierre-Joseph Redouté a much respected botanical painter of the 1700’s, and an undisputed master of floral art, was created by Sarah-Jane Humphrey, the Botanical Atelier, which can be seen&nbsp;through the glass bottle, magnifying and enhancing the botanicals.



Best served: With ice, tonic and a sprig of rosemary.



<a href="https://www.curiospiritscompany.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Curio Samphire Rock Gin</a> (from Mullion)



Made in Mullion on&nbsp;the&nbsp;Lizard Peninsula, this four-times-distilled gin &#8211; made with hand-foraged rock samphire &#8211; captures an invigorating taste of the Cornish coast. And I don&#8217;t care what they say about books and covers, the colourful&nbsp;packaging&nbsp;won me over too.



Flavour:&nbsp;&#8220;Inspired by the light, fresh sea spray and wild aromas of its coastal home, Curio Rock Samphire gin is blended with fragrant botanicals and distilled in small batches, for exceptional quality and a delicately smooth gin.&#8221;



What else: Curio also makes two flavoured vodkas &#8211; Cocoa and Cardamom and Cornish Cup, which is based on a traditional punch and makes a lovely fruity tipple&nbsp;on a summer&#8217;s day.



Best served: Neat with ice and a garnish.



<a href="http://www.southwesterndistillery.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Tarquin&#8217;s &#8216;The Seadog&#8217; Navy Strength Gin</a> (from St Ervan)



A hugely successful Cornish export, Tarquin&#8217;s &#8216;The Seadog&#8217; was crowned World&#8217;s Best Gin at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (The Oscars of the gin world,&nbsp;don&#8217;t you&nbsp;know). Similar to&nbsp;Tarquin&#8217;s&nbsp;signature gin but with added poke, The Seadog is bottled at 57% ABV &#8211; navy strength!



Flavour: &#8220;Made using the same traditional distilling methods, this navy strength gin uses increased botanicals to balance the alcohol strength and maintain the unique Tarquin&#8217;s flavour.&nbsp;It has a&nbsp;superbly smooth finish and rounded sweetness, with notes of cracked black pepper, candied citrus and rich spice.&#8221;



What else: Tarquin&#8217;s regularly releases Limited Edition flavours, which have included Black Cherry, British Blackberry, Elderflower and Pink Grapefruit and Cornish Crocus, among a host of others. They also make Connie Glaze Cornish vodka.



Best served: This stronger gin comes highly recommended&nbsp;for Martini cocktails (hic!) and is also perfect for G&amp;Ts with a bit of a kick.



<a href="https://www.wearetinkture.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Tinkture Rose Gin</a> (from Perranporth)



This amazing colour-changing gin&nbsp;is made with organic West Country roses. The golden colour changes to beautiful pink when mixed with tonic&nbsp;&#8211; and that bottle!&nbsp;A lovingly crafted gin that oozes&nbsp;style and substance.



Flavour: &#8220;A sensuous walk through a garden in bloom. Tinkture is a delightfully light and delicate &#8216;London Dry&#8217; gin with a hint of citrus. Juniper and coriander provide a complex depth and warmth.&nbsp;&#8220;



What else: You can order Tinkture gin in refill pouches&nbsp;&#8211; a win, win for the environment and your bank balance.



Best served:&nbsp;Ice and tonic are all that&#8217;s required, although there&#8217;s a lovely looking Bramble recipe on their Instagram feed if you want to get creative.



<a href="https://thewreckingcoastdistillery.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The Wrecking Coast Clotted Cream Gin</a> (from Tintagel)



Clotted cream and gin seemed like a odd combo to me at first but Wrecking Coast is a triumph of smooth, velvety, vanilla-ery, deliciousness &#8211; and even better served with a fresh strawberry garnish.



Flavour: Familiar gin flavours, blended with a clotted cream spirit for a rich texture and sweet vanilla aroma.



What else? Rather than traditional copper stills, Wrecking Coast is made in a modern&nbsp;Dutch iStill!



Best served: Neat over ice or with tonic, strawberries and lime.
